4.0.0.8: AV. What the heck happend to my folder tree ?????
Hello all, This is a bit scary. As you can see in my signature I'm back all the way to v3.99.29. This is why: I was looking at the Unread tab in the folder tree and decided to change the column settings of this tab. While looking at the column settings dialog, a few seconds after opening it and without doing anything, I got the following AV: --- The Bat! --- Access violation at address 009A8EDC in module 'thebat4008.exe'. Read of address . --- Aceptar --- Upon clicking Aceptar (OK) the error dialog disappeared but then I noticed that the Unread tab did not show any folder at all, it was blank. I switched to All and Virtual tabs and back to Unread but it still didn't show any folders. So, I decided to re-start TB. And what happened after restarting? Look at the attached PNG. That was for the All tab. Scary, isn't it? So I went back to 4.0.0.7 and same thing. Oh my God, what has happened? I verified that the physical folders on disk had the correct names but, anyhow, I decided to at least momentarily go back to 3.99.29. After I calmed down a bit I have finally understood what happened. Somehow, when I was looking at the Unread tab column set up and got the AV, the column settings for All tab had changed and instead of Name, Unread and Total columns (which is what I use) it was set up to display Account, Unread and Total. What a relief!!! :-)) -- Best regards, Miguel A. Greetings BatPeople, With the latest alpha, I tried to add a new address to the address book from the headers of an email I received. 'Lo and behold, the option to add selected address to address was missing. I can't remember the other options, but I do remember there being several others that also seem to be missing. Currently, if I highlight the From header and right click all I get are the following popup options: copy headers send photo header layout display current part size If this was an intentional change, I will sorely miss to ability to add new addresses to the addressbook by simply clicking on them in the header. -- Cheers, \\' Message reply created with The Bat! 4.0.0.8 (ALPHA) under Windows XP ver5.1 Build 2600 using a Pentium P4 2.8Ghz, 512MB RAM with cable modem Plugins: Grisoft AVG 7.0 AntiSPAMSniper 1.6.2 Current beta is 3.99.29 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I believe that double clicking on the address will add it to the address book. I am not fond of this design, either - would like it to just right click to add. -- Best regards, Jimmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Current beta is 3.99.29 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Header click (was: 4.0.0.8A - Add to addressbook missing)
Hello Marek, Currently, if I highlight the From header and right click all I get are the following popup options: copy headers send photo header layout display current part size If this was an intentional change, I will sorely miss to ability to add new addresses to the addressbook by simply clicking on them in the header. MM of course not, there are changes in plaintext editor and viewer in MM progress, they will be back. This is not 4.xx alpha issue. As reported for 3.99.24 you have to put the cursor on the header and then double-click instead of just double-clicking. Here is the bug report which was not yet supported: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=6463 -- Best regards, Peter Gannushkin URL: http://downtownmusic.net/ Current beta is 3.99.29 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Address History Setup will not close
Ran the Adress History Setup and once it is finishes searching all the folders, I click on finish, but the screen will not close. Have to hit OK on the preferences window to close the history setup window. Re: Header click (was: 4.0.0.8A - Add to addressbook missing)
Hello Marek, If this was an intentional change, I will sorely miss to ability to add new addresses to the addressbook by simply clicking on them in the header. MM of course not, there are changes in plaintext editor and viewer in MM progress, they will be back. This is not 4.xx alpha issue. MM I have replied to issue about missing entries, _this is_ new in latest MM build 4.0.0.8. Part of the issue was that the ability to add new addresses to the addressbook by simply clicking on them in the header was lost. That particular functionality was lost before 4.0.0.8. The most of the right-click menu did indeed disappear in the latest alpha. While I am sure the latter will be eventually fixed, the former might stay broken unless someone supports the bug report. -- Best regards, Peter Gannushkin URL: http://downtownmusic.net/ Current beta is 3.99.29 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I've already answered once, but I now see that the 'write to address book' feature still exists in the 'Specials' menu and presumably one could assign short-cut keys. -- Best regards, Roger :flag-southafrica: The Bat! v4.0.0.8 (ALPHA) with AntiSpamSniper 2.7.1.5, on Windows XP, version 5 1, build 2600 and Service Pack 2 Current beta is 3.99.29 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Shutting down TB takes very long
With the new alpha (beta) cycle going on I have to restart TB every now and then to install a new build (I normally keep it running 24*7). I noticed that after shutting down TB it takes ages before the program really disappear from memory (I used taskmanager to check for this). I just timed it and it took 2 minutes and 45 seconds to finish. I think it is creating msgs.dump files for my virtual folders. Am I the only one seeing this? Some statistics for my situation: - 3 Accounts - 478 folders - 4 Gb disk space used by the message base - 29 virtual folders - 310 thousand messages - Most virtual folders monitor only one folder (and filter on mail from/to a certain address) - All virtual folders have the 'store state between sessions' flag unchecked. I saw the following memory usage When shutdown begins: Working Set: 48 Mb, Peak 74 Mb At the end of the shutdown process: Working Set: 75 Mb, Peak 75 Mb I also noticed that even though I have virtual folders deep in the hierarchy like (Account\Folder\SubFolder\*VF*) TB creates a folder on disk directly under the account to store the file msgs.dump (Account\VF) I finaly found a folder 'cache' in my messagebase folder with what looks like images used in HTML mails.
