Like many others, I have confirmed that the task can be aborted and no
taskmanager is needed. Somebody already changed it to "resolved".
(What is the difference between "resolved" and "closed"?)

However, I wonder why the task was frozen. I know that in this case,
our company server was shut down for maintenance while I was
downloading mails, but shouldn't TB! have timed out instead of
freezing the task for 59 minutes?

When I started TB! this morning, the profile was set to default.

However, the Smileys are always on, and I have to click them off each
time I start TB!.

I think the profile used is random, and does have to do with luck. I
hope Stefan is reading this, otherwise we'll have to open a bug
report.

The setting for the Smileys should be remembered, and not default to
"on".

TBBETA Mission Statement

2008-01-31 Thread Marck D Pearlstone
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Greetings Beta Listers,

This is your monthly message from the moderation team to remind you
of the primary purpose of this discussion list.

To review the list rules, follow the link at the end of this message.

Before posting a question to the list, please check The Bat! User's
FAQ at: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/FAQ.html and the list
archive at http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED] To
join the list, send a message to
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

TBBETA Mission statement

The TBBETA list has been set up for the purpose of discussing The
Bat! officially released Beta test versions and related issues. For
general topics of a more simple nature regarding full release
versions, refer to TBUDL. For more complex topics refer to TBTECH.

An 'officially released' beta version is one which has been
announced *by RITlabs* on the TBBETA list, usually with a list of
changes.

Simply send messages to tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com to send it to
the whole list.

See the notes at the end of this message for details about how to
manage your list membership or to leave the list.

It would probably be a good idea for you to set up a folder to keep
TBBETA messages in. If you do this, the next most useful thing to
have in place is an automatic filter to move mail from your inbox
into your TBBETA folder.

Set up a filter for incoming mail which looks for:

Header Field [Reply-To] Contains [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The Roguemoticon Project

It's nice to see your contact's face in the header ... and for them
to see yours. That's what roguemoticons are all about. If you wish
to add yourself, then you'll need to visit this site
http://www.pcwize.com/thebat

What this place will do for you is to allow you to create an
account, add your image and then let you download a .ZIP file
containing all the files you'll need to be able so see people's
faces without having to send or receive any real images in any
messages.

To trigger the roguemoticon display in the message header for anyone
reading your message using TB, you have the choice of using the
X-Rogue: header or a signature trigger.

How to use a signature trigger
The image is triggered by a 'Handle' you've defined in your
account, and when that Handle appears in a message it gets
replaced on the client side by the corresponding image. A handle
could look like anything you want it to look like pretty much.
For example:
:Marck_Pearlstone:
Just add this text to your standard message signature block.

How to create the X-Rogue: header
You can do that with this macro:
%SetHeader('X-Rogue',':your_handle:')%- in your templates for
this and other tb-lists.
However, the macro alone won't do the trick.
TB'll say: 'Hey, that's not any RFC822 header I know about', so
you'll have to define it as such:
Options .. Preferences .. Messages .. Message headers .. 'Add'

Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header

Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important)
  RFC header: X-Rogue
Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't)
Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor'
Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the
  header pane'

Now you're done and every TB-user can see your lovable face when
they've installed the roguemoticons.

For you to see peoples faces:

To get this going, you should be running TB! v2.12 or later. Fetch
  the following file:
  http://www.pcwize.com/thebat/smileys/rogues.zip

Unzip it to the 'Images' directory that's in your TB! installation
  directory: C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Images
You should now have a directory called 'rogues' containing many
images as well as the file 'rogues.msl' in your Images directory.
Go into the preferences, and bring up the View/Editor options. Now
hit Shift-CTRL-Alt-T while TB! is in focus. This will re-fetch
TB!'s smiley set from disk and load the new images.

Yes. And apparently, you are using it... ;-)

What do you see under Options / Preferences / Viewer/Editor /
Viewer/Editor Profiles? If you see nothing, you have only the default
profile. You can add others, don't worry about the charset, it has no
effect (yet?).

Admittedly, that's confusing.

Here is how you set your default profile:

Options / Preferences / Viewer/Editor / HTML Editor. It shows
"" as default profile. You can set your font preferences as
you did before. I have set my default to what the PTV was set to
before. The problem is that when I start up TB!, it defaults to my
second profile, "Thai". So I have to change it manually (once per
session) to "Default".

One problem in MicroEd: Free caret works. But when I hit "backspace"
on an empty line, MicroEd would go to the beginning of the line
previously, but not any more. I have to hit "backspace" many times
now.

New Message created from Common Virtual Folder

2008-01-31 Thread Carsten Guthardt-Schulz
Hi Tbbeta,

I observe the following here:
When creating a new message (not reply!) while browsing a Common Virtual
Folder, the message is not necessarily created from the default-account.
You can try this out by activating the "This is the default account for mailto:
links" checkbox on different accounts, and then creating a new message from a
Common Virtual Folder. You will see that the new message is not necessarily
created from the default account.

Can anyone confirm?

Messages marked as Unread, but no unread msg there?!

2008-01-31 Thread Carsten Guthardt-Schulz
Hi,

I frequently (several times a day) see the following bug:

- Folder in folder list is marked in bold, showing 1 or more unread messages.
The Bat icon is animated. When I select the folder, all messages in the message
list are already read! There is no unread message. If I right-click and select
"mark all as read" the problem is solved, no animated Icon anymore, no unread
messages shown in folder list.

- In the folder tree, an account is shown to have one or more unread messages,
but none of its folders are shown to have unread messages.

I think this needs to be urgently fixed. The animated icon causes me to keep
opening TB in such a case and search for the unread message, but there is none.
