Здравствуйте, Eddie. Вы писали 30 марта 2011 г., 10:54:38: - If you have used 4.2.42 or earlier, just install the follwing MSIs over. If I select to Install Custom it is not offering to install it in the current TB! folder but rather under C:\Documents and Settings\Eddie\Desktop\ I don't know why it happens, most of actions related to MSIs are controlled by the Windows Installer service, we have no control over it. We didn't change anything in the MSIs, probably it was the same long ago, but only in your computer, since the other users didn't report that. For me it shows Monday 28, March 2011 23:49:51. So, that is not right I guess. Can you point me to the right File in order to inbstall v4.2.44.2? 28 March, 23:49 is almost 29 March (due to time differences), so just install this file. -- С уважением, Maxim mailto:m...@ritlabs.com Current beta is 5.0.0.153 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

APPLAUSE !! As you can see from my signature I am a Linux freak as well. I'd just like to add a couple of comments: 1.- Linux is a good operating system, so is Windows, so is OSX, so is BSD, so was VMS, so was OS2, so is VM, so is OS400, and so are most of the others. Whichever OS you choose, you'll find that it will be better at some things and worst at others. Don't confuse personal preference with better or worst. I accept statements like "OS ??? is better than OS ??? when you want to ???" (fill in the ??? with what you want). 2.- If you are using Linux then go with Evolution. Why do I choose The Bat! on Windows? Because of it's security (internal HTML engine) and it's filtering capabilities. I stopped using The Bat! because of it's lack of good IMAP support and came back with the 5.x beta because IMAP now works as well as other Windows clients. Evolution has all this as well. Filtering is not as versatile as The Bat! but it's good enough, and you get iCal support which you don't with The Bat! My personal recommendation would be for Ritlabs to stay away from Linux as the cost will far out way the benefits. The build in e-mail client is more than enough for work in the Linux space. I think resources, time and energy should be focused on making The Bat work extremely well in the Windows environment. As a side note, I've notice some of my software vendors have made similiar decisions to not produce software in Mac or Linux. Hello Simon, Wednesday, March 30, 2011, 6:03:25 PM, you wrote: As you can see from my signature I am a Linux freak as well. I'd just like to add a couple of comments: I like Linux too, and we use it on our server, but Delphi compiler for Linux (Kylix) is no longer in development and we currently see no viable options how can we make The Bat! for Linux, due to lack of proper tools at our disposal. Rewriting The Bat! on a cross-platform language like .NET or C++ would have probably solved the issue, but this is not that easy. The Bat! currently has about 1.5 million lines of code, or 40MB, of which about 8MB are third-party libraries and 32MB is the text written by Ritlabs. Those who does or did computer programming knows that to write 1.5 million lines of code is not that easy, and besides writing there is planning and debugging, and the debugging usually takes more time than the writing. -- Best regards, Maximmailto:m...@ritlabs.com Current beta is 5.0.0.153 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I persisted in using Windows in an otherwise Mac household for a number of years. I was finally won over by the trouble free beauty and elegance by which things are done in the Mac world. But I remain a Windows programmer by trade, so I must run Windows. So I got VMWare and installed Win 7 in a Mac window. MS Windows has never been so stable and well behaved. I'm a fan of using Windows and also learning about Linux. When it comes Windows, The Bat remains my e-mail client of choice. With VMWare, I have left nothing behind. Mac Mail is a fine free email program, but it lacks many niceties required by those who must have a high performance email client. -- Gleason Current beta is 5.0.0.153 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
