Filter Problem?

2013-02-07 Thread Steven P Vallière

I've been noticing that message from one particular sender
are often sent to the junk folder instead of going where
the filter that matches both the subject and the sender
(though the filter is set to the OR of either one.) This
doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it has been happening often
enough that I need to ask a question:

What happens first: Filtering or Junk Checking?

I have the Regula anti-spam plug-in and, overall, have
been very happy with it, so this is more of a curiosity
than a problem. I think I can correct it by adding the
automated account that sends me the daily report that is
having trouble to my address book (and thereby whitelisting
it for the anti-spam plug-in.)

I'm still curious about the order of evaluation, though.

It certainly /looks/ like the anti-spam is run BEFORE any
of my filters. I wonder if it would be possible (and useful)
to be able to have the anti-spam and anti-virus plug-ins
listed in the filters so that we could move some of our own
special exceptions before or after them?

Re: Incoming message filtering stopped working??

2013-02-07 Thread Tony Hoare
Hello gandalfmeister,

None of the tbbeta messages are being filtered into my dedicated
folder. If I manually refilter the inbox - they move - but not automatically.
 Anyone confirm?

Confirmed. My filtering has been working very well until the last few
days. Now, no messages. are filtered and I have to do them all
manually.

I may have a clue: I have just set the account to a plain IMAP
connection (without SSL) and perhaps Kaspersky plugin is causing them
not to be filtered.

I have removed the Kaspersky plugin and will update if anything changes.

Hallo Steven,

Junk checking happens first. Cannot be altered.

However, what you can do, is make your spam filter add a header (or
add something to the subject), but not drop it to the junk folder.
And configure the sorting office to move everything with that spam
header to your junk folder.
You should place that spam filter in your sorting in such a way that
addresses with lots of false positives get filtered before your spam
filter gets activated.
Unfortunately I don't know for sure whether this is possibe with your
Regula plug-in.

Update: still broken. I have reverted back to SSL (so Kaspersky can't
see inside) but incoming filtering is still broken.

I hope RIT can fix this soon as I can now see how much SPAM I'm
getting because I have to filter it manually. It didn't seem quite so bad
when TB! was doing it for me.
