Re: TB non-closure prevents Windows shut down

2013-09-19 Thread Rick
I have to do that on occasion on Win 8 - it won't shut down and I have to kill
it with TM

TIP: If you ever get the splash screen and the bat will go no further, shut it
down, clear the cache (and img folder although that might not be needed) Then
run it as administrator. You can immediately shut it down and it will open

Interesting. Today when I went to shut down my computer, TheBat would not
close. Just ignored clicking the red X and choosing Messages=>Exit. Acted as if
I'd done nothing. I then tried using task manager to end the processes and it
shut down properly, did the box with the completion bars running across and
then shut down. So it looks like the problem is app->close message is getting
lost under some conditions. As if you disable it when you're doing something
for safety and then somehow forget to turn it back on. Similar to how the
mouse cursor looses it's state sometimes.

I didn't respond because I close all programs (including TB!) before I
shut down Windows. I can try on my XP l;aptop next time to leave TB!
open when shouting down Windows.

It may BE a glitch or something else installed that is interfering. And if one
of us had the exact same computer and programs but were installed in a
different order ... ?
Windows can be whacky :))

Thanks for your response. As it seems you are the only other user who is
going to respond it suiggests that our problem is not very common and must
be due to some local glitch at our respective locations. I have already
