Moin, Roger et al.!

R I used to get that a lot on XP. Now it has trouble closing on my
R profile but closed quicky from my wife's account (we don't have
R open on both profiles at the same time)

Thanks for your response. As it seems you are the only other user
who is going to respond it suiggests that our problem is not very
common and must be due to some local glitch at our respective
locations. I have already tried reinstalling or updating any app.
and Windows which might be responible but to no avail!

I’ve been living with that problem for years now:

I takes up to a minute until the process ends.

Cheers!

Not so here. If the Windows black shut down screen appears before TB has
finished backing up files etc. everything hangs for ever! But thanks for
responding.

Windows has an issue that has caused serious data loss for some people. It
gives the program not responding when in fact the program is working in the
background.

It gives the message program not responding when the program stops responding
to user events. It seems like W8 shows that a bit faster than W7, but it's not
a bug in Windows. Conceptually it's caused by bad design of the program
getting the message which should never stop processing events or should have at
least put up a This will take a long time, please wait message or a progress
bar so you would know it was still alive.

Seems so easy to close running programs _before_ shutting down windows
so one can observe what is taking place...

Isn't this the list for reporting problems experienced with TB, even
comparatively trivial ones?

I started this thread originally to determione whether the problem is unique
to my PC setup or if it is more general. It appears now that it is more
general and I will do some more experimenting and research before putting in
a bug report. Maybe it is something that the TB developers can quite easily
fix.
