I  hardly  use  this  view  except for RSS Subscriptions which seem to
default  to  it.  But it does work for normal mail folders if I resize
TB's  windows  so  that  Message  List  is  smaller  that the % I have
established.

That is helpful. So the size of the message list is the key. I'll work on that.

I'm  wondering  if the different behaviour may be due to the fact that
you  are  using  Windows 7 while Jernej is using Windows 10. I have no
idea, it is just a guess. I never pin any icons to the taskbar.

This was a weird bug with TB's installers practically forever, but it should 
now be finally fixed – unpin your existing shortcut, the pin TB again.
