Restoring Messages

2008-12-13 Thread Ian Pollard
Hi
How do I restore my messages when installing a beta. I am trying to
restore a backup made by version 4.0.38 to version 4.0.39.39. I have tried a
simple restore and they just do not appear. Any advice on this would be most
appreciated.

Ian

Restoring Messages

2008-12-13 Thread Ian Pollard
 Hallo Ian,

 You should try this:
 Uninstall TB
Check in the registry whether the all TB stuff is gone, you'll find it at:
 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT
 Install 4.0.38
 Restore your backup
Extract the executable of 4.0.39.39 on top of 4.0.38

I tried it but it did not restore all of my messages - one example ,a folder
with 258 messages had one restored!!

Ian

Looks like a bug has been introduced with this version.

When I double-click on an attachment in a message to launch it, The

Back to .18 and it works as it should.

Re-loaded .19 and two instances are launched.

 Back to .18.

Same here - confirmed. Also I cannot use the reply option ,it is always grayed

As I said in a reply to Graham in this same thread, no one can assure
there is nothing wrong with the SSCE engine. But the fact that it works

specially if developers can't reproduce the failure.

BTW, when you say it doesn't work, does it mean that it doesn't mark
 any words as misspelled?
It doesn't work means it just ignores some misspelled words i.e Thiought is
ignored. I checked the word list in the dictionary and it is not there so there
is no reason why it should not flag it. As far as the registry export is
concerned, I don't see anywhere to attach either this file or the jpeg of my

Now, here is something I don't understand. If you followed my
instructions, as you said yesterday, I assume you only have the
American English (SSCE) which is installed by default are testing with
it, confirm? If so, where and how did you check the word list in the
dictionary? Because the Ssceam2.clx dictionary is not a text file,
 the Ssceam.tlx is is.

I did only have SSCE British English Dictionaries installed but have now had to
revert to Hunspel in order to have a functional editor. When I say I followed
your instructions,
I backed up all of my messages,
Removed every trace of The Bat!
Did a clean install and then finally restored my messages.
At this stage I thought the SSCE engine was working fine, but a few tests proved
that it was ignoring some words. If I type nonsense, say tyhg, then it flags it
as a spelling error but it does not see the mis-spelling of thought as thiought
as an error. I need to do a few further tests as I may have capitalised the
first letter of Thought and marked the option to ignore capitalised letters. It
is good to bounce these ideas around as it causes me to think more about what I
am actually doing.
