Before upgrading I copied the Dictionaries and Speller folders from the Program Files Folder and then renamed the new ones (that were updated when installing 5.3.10) and copied the old ones back. Hi all, In versions prior to 5.3.10 you had a right click option to choose the default dictionary - Dictionary to add to and then subsequently for new additional words you just right clicked and chose Add to Dictionary But now in 5.3.10 you have to choose which dictionary every time - Hunspell or SSCE? Is there no way to have the old option of just Add to Dictionary after choosing a default dictionary? HTML image download settings not stored
I've ticked the setting for Download Embedded Images from external sites as Always but whenever I restart TB it reverts back to Configured Reject Unknown Bug maybe.. as it works in previous Betas? Beta 5.1.6.9 Errors on Every Startup
Hi, I have never had this problem before - but with the last two betas I cannot use the program without getting this error every time. I have to OK about 5 of these dialog boxes before the program can be used? There must be something that has caused this to happen guys? Hi all, Just replaced my exe to v5.1.6.8 and after two or three smooth starts it would not start any more because of the following dialog box which looped endlessly when I tried to start it again. TB Buffer Overrun Constant Errors
Hi guys, Can I ask a bit of advice.. I get this error more and more now within a few minutes of running TB (v5.64 and earlier) on my Vista Ultimate x86 PC. If I click OK and re-launch the program it might be fine for a few minutes or even an hour but it will always now cause this error which is causing a real problem when using TB! There are no plugins running or anything extra -- Help! --- This error ONLY appears with TB? Any ideas.. Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library --- Buffer overrun detected! Program: C:\Program Files\The Bat!\thebat.exe A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. Text wrap change in 5.1.6.1
[-] Text in editor must be wrapped in the same way as in viewer - window width must be used to wrap text (Plain text (Windows) editor)new wrap for text How do people feel about (for or against) the new change in wrap text..?? Before 5.1.6.1 text wrapped using the wrap text at XX setting in Editor Preferences. I personally much preferred this way because if text wraps at window width (which it now does in this version) if you have a larger monitor (and most of us probably do) the temptation is to use the return key to paragraph text which can of course mess up the way the paragraphs should look when the email is received. I know I can reduce the size of the editor window to create the impression of text wrap but this only clutters the interface as then you can see all the open windows behind which can be distracting. I like to see how the email will look on most email clients and I agree a lot of clients will wrap the email at window width but a LOT will display wrapped at 60-70 characters and also a lot of users have their reading window smaller than full screen (Outlook and Outlook Express default to this) - so it means I can have the best of both worlds because in the compose window I can keep the guide wrap to where I choose, but if I want to see how the email will look at window width I can look at it in either the drafts folder or the sent folder, as it is displayed windows width there. Has anyone else spotted this change of wrap behaviour yet? and if so what are your thoughts? I'm not against change but in this particular instance I'd like the chance to choose the wrap setting - if possible. ALT Arrow Up/Down not working!
Hi, Just found that with v5.1.0.4 ALT Arrow Up/Down doesn't scroll the message up and down when viewing an HTML email in the preview pane? It works when viewing a plain text email (in the preview pane)but not HTML. It did in all previous versions! Spam rating with TB seems very high
I've just sent two identical emails. One was created with Outlook 2010 and the other with TB 5.1 Both had exactly the same message body subject and everything. I let TB receive both of them but cannot understand why the AntiSpamSniper filter (default setting) rated the one created with Outlook 2010 at 55% and the one created by TB at 75% and threw that in Junk. They both were sent through the same server. The only difference between the two emails was the client? How can this be possible? (Use X-Mailer header in messages) is unchecked. Any ideas people? Colour change of info pane - why?
Hi all, In the very last beta 5.0.36.5 the background colour of the info pane (at the top when reading an email in it's own window) has changed!!! If you double click on an email the info pane at the top where you see the From To Subject etc has changed colour from RGB 237 237 237 to 238 225 225 and is now a slight pink hue!! Hi, I still get the double Taskbar Icons ALL the time and my Win 7 Ultimate 32Bit NEVER goes into standby or sleep! It is on all day. It can happen straight away or after a short while but almost always it will happen. Double Taskbar Buttons - Still!
Hi all, I'm running 5.0.36.2 with no problems... but Does anyone else STILL have double taskbar buttons for TB? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit and I have the Taskbar Buttons set to Never Combine if that should make any difference! It's VERY annoying as the one button says I have mail and the other doesn't. If I close one, TB closes down but the other button remains??? When the two are showing there is only one instance of TB in Task Manager It's been like this for literally years.. Hi Bat people, Mailto links aren't working for me if I click on an e-mail address link in Firefox 7? I'm using Win Vista Ult 32bit and no matter what I change to rectify the situation the default for the mailto protocol in Default programs and settings shows Unknown Application ...and if I try to select a program the only two I am offered are Outlook and Windows Mail? Hello Bat people :-) Has anyone else witnessed the phantom taskbar button icon? Virtually all the time in all betas I see (after a short while)two taskbar button icons for the main program? Hi Bat people :-) The phantom icon appears more on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit than my Vista Ultimate 32bit. It happens all the time. Backup not restoring all mail?
Hi Bat people, Has anyone tried to do a full restore on a new PC from a full TB! backup? I've tried about a dozen times to restore a full backup to a different PC but the restore leaves out weeks of e-mails! They are all in the inbox of the source PC (all POP accounts) but the restore does not restore them. I've had to resort to copying the TB user roaming folder and copying it to the new PC and then all is well?? Quick Templates Issue - all TB versions
Hi Bat people, I have a very very long standing Quick Templates wrap issue. This has never worked in all versions 4 and 5 including current betas - just wanted to confirm. If you create a quick template (Plain Text Format) and write a few long lines of text, the point at which the wrap occurs becomes a hard CR and LF (this clearly shows up if you copy and past the text from the QT template into Notepad2) So basically if you insert this quick template into a New Message (Plain Text Editor) and you add or insert more text to a line, the point at which it wrapped in the Quick Template editor becomes fixed with a CR and LF so wrap just doesn't work properly if you add or insert new text in the message. The only way I have worked around this is to create any templates in Notepad2 and then copy and past them into the Quick Templates editor (in order to maintain the non wrapped structure) - hardly the tidiest method.. v5 betas Phantom Taskbar Button Icon
Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? Many times during the day I notice a phantom second Taskbar Button Icon! Even if I close TB the phantom button icon still remains!! I have to close that too - even though the main program has exited? Anyone else? I get this a lot on both a Win Vista Ult 32bit and Win 7 Ult 32bit PC. Yes I'm here :-) It's not really a big problem - there are lots more things to be fixed before this one.. I'm not sure what exactly you mean but as I said - when I open a message in it's own window the focus is not on the body text so you have to use TAB to move the focus across. I could send you a screengrab but I've been told these are not allowed :-( I don't suppose a link to a screengrab would be against the rules? 5.0.12.7 Arrow keys focus on opening a message
If you open a message from the inbox into a separate window, the arrow keys won't scroll down the message because the focus is not on the message text. You have to put the focus onto the message for the arrow keys to work. Confirmations? If you park on a message in the inbox and then press return or double click to open it into a new window then in v4 the focus was on the e-mail text pane - but not now.. you have to press TAB to change the focus to the text pane. It's only a small point but I use the keyboard pretty exclusively and things like this are a real nuisance. Hi Zygmunt, The MicroEd editor is OK but the Plain Text Windows Editor has this issue and I have checked the preferences. If you look at my screengrab you would be unable to produce the same results in the current beta 5.0.12.6 The top part of the screengrab has the original text and the bottom pane is the reply pane. In defense of Ritlabs and TB!
I have been reading with interest all of your comments on TB! and I feel that I have to add my thoughts. TB! is, for me, the best e-mail client available. I've been using it for so long I've nearly forgotten how long (at least 9 years and still counting) I personally don't use IMAP - I have 5 e-mail accounts - all POP's and I am very happy with this setup. I use a couple of machines with TB! to check my e-mail and on the one that is my second machine I simply select for TB! to leave messages on the server until my main machine receives them and then deletes the message from the server. This arrangement serves me very very well. (I use a Nokia mobile with a good e-mail client called Profimail which checks all 5 POP accounts and also leaves messages on the server unless I choose to delete them) The interface is great for me (it's the only client that works the way I want to work) It is also the only decent one where you can have individual accounts in the folder tree that behave independently of each other and contains it's own trash and junk mail folder etc etc Customisable interface, spam filter addin, etc etc... I personally only write e-mails in plain text using the MicroED editor and this editor is clean and simple (if a little quirky at times) I also think the template system is excellent and very versatile using them in conjunction with macros etc for different replies ... customisable audio alerts with time schedule and very powerful sorting office filters... being able to backup all accounts, messages and settings into one password protected file is something that many e-mail programs and particularly Outlook users can only dream about. There's a lot more I've probably forgotten but you get the picture. I wish the guys at Ritlabs well and hope that they have thick skins for all the highly charged messages that have been sent over the last few days. TB! isn't perfect - but then what software is? 4.1.11.20 Attachment Icon Oddities!
Hi, Just installed v4.1.11.20 Spoke to soon I thought the attachment icon was all fixed... but.. 1. If you expand the attachment icon column past a certain point the file names of all the attachments shows! 2. Attachment numbers do not show on e-mails older than a few weeks! the attachment icon shows up but no number - not even 1! Just to clarify the situation It seems that I am not alone - In v119 I have no paper clip icon OR numbered icon IF there is more than one attachment! Nada, zilch, zip.
