total disappointment

2005-05-06 Thread Vilius umskas
Hello,
just wanted to say that I don't understand one thing. How such bugs
like that one in RC3 (that makes The Bat freeze on startup) makes it's
way to beta place and this list? I mean, come on guys, have you ever
test compiled EXE file on your OWN machines? At least run a test that
it is executable!
I'm very disappointed with such bad unimaginable way of management.

Standard reply in Borland and Opera newsgroups (and probably at other
developers, too) to When's the next version coming out? is WIR - When It's
Ready.
I don't expect new version. I expect bugs to be fixed. Bugs that populated
bugtraq almost 2 years now. Such as IMAP bugs, TLS/SSL bugs, dozen of
interface
bugs (?!)

By the way. When I ask something Novell support, they release free patch for
their software. When I ask something a RedHat they explain how it to be fixed.
Even when I ask something at MS support, they explain how to avoid a problem,
or give me a KB article number, or something else. But I get a _response_.
RITLabs is just ignoring most of the customers. And this is rude.

DC 1. Quite a few beta testers have complained about the degree of

DC though additional feature development continues. By any professional
DC definition, these releases are not Betas. They are, in fact, Alphas.

Name me a piece of software that was released and was completely bug
 free.

but noone of them, had so many broken and almost unusable KEY
features:

IMAP - broken
NFS - broken
PGP - broken
HTML viewer/editor - broken

btw check ya cutmark, it didnt work over here. ;) note cunning use of

 This is beta-*testing*

you can download any *release* from RIT's site. IMAP, Filter System
and friends are broken there too.

 NFS - broken

This is the core of the current *testing* period.

So why other features are not fixed, like IMAP, HTML viewer? I mean
that I feel like this beta cycle will finish up with one more
unfinished feature. Here are the new feature you requested so long,
cool, but it's broken, whoops, ok here's the fix, nope still
broken, whoops, ok we'll fix it in another year or
so, after we implement one more NEW feature. This is dialog that I
see now between devs and user/betatesters.

 Hello Vilius,

what is the difference between When online, refresh folders every 5
minutes (in account imap fine-tune) and Periodic checking each 5
minutes (in account mail management) options?
 1. When online, refresh folders every 5 minutes - checks message
count on folders and shows if new messages arrived. No
messages/headers are loaded (exception is current folder - if message
count changes TB! downloads missing headers and adds messages to list.

 2. Periodic checking each 5 minutes - performs folders
synchronization every 5 minutes, so depend of synchronization settings
of folder TB!'ll retrieve nothing/headers/bodies of new/all messages.

So, if I have option #2 enabled, I don't need option #1. Because I see
new message count anyway. Right?
