TBV isn't supposed to list itself in the registry whatsoever. It
should leave the registry alone. Therefore it should not be able to
install itself as the default mail client. The only thing that's wrong
is that it offers the (non-functioning) option to do so.
The preferences for this should be deleted, but I guess their presence
has something to do with the similarity in code between TB and TBV.

Thank you for confirming that. Leaving no registry traces is the way
to go.

Are there any known issues related to this?

I used to have GMail in TBV and it connected as well as TB, that is,

huh, does it need at all the ability to be registered as such? good
question, eh?

For me, for some reason, TBV does not associate itself with a mailto:
by setting preferences there in the program. Even so, it does not list
itself in the registry as a recognized mail client. In order for IE6
to open TBV from a mailto: I have to edit and register the URL:MailTo
Protocol file type to open with TBV. Then make sure TBV is accessible
when I use a mailto:.

however nonsense it may seem at first, Portable Firefox, for example,
does have this functionality and i use it quite frequently. from my
observations, it comes equally as handy as it brings enough annoyance
as well: if it would be default only for the period it is running;
when i close it, let it revert to what was before, it would be
perfect.

From what I understand, FF will open whatever the system default mail
client is set at. I haven't used the portable FF to give an opinion
about it's mailto: capabilities. The annoyances about it that you
speak of? Have you tried the Launchy extension? It works great for
mailto: control on FF non-portable.

i would like to hear a list of your proscons on this subject here as
well.

As I would yours and others when we can find time. :)

You are pretty much tied with the data folder being where it is in

Hello Tbbeta,

We've implemented Outbox Protection Feature.

It is currently OFF by default. If you add Registry DWORD Value
CopyToOutboxProhibited=1 to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!, The
Bat! will prohibit copying messages to Outbox from other folders. You will be
only able to foward, redirect, etc. messages, which will lead to creation of
new messages in Outbox, but you will not be able to copy (or move) messages to
Outbox.

When this option is ON, and you click Copy to folder menu item, the Outbox
folder is not shown in the list. Also, if you try to use Drag-And-Drop to copy
messages to Outbox, the cursor gets prohibited shape.

Please let us know whether it should be ON by default.

We have some reports from corporate users that being able to drag and drop
messages to outbox folder and have them sent is a potentially very dangerous
feature for corporate users.

The new beta URL
http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/beta/tbb36309.rar

This beta is not usable to me. It caused my IMAP account and folders
to disappear from sight in TB and an old deleted POP account was
resurrected with it's folders that I had stored in TB's mail
directory!

Needless to say, I backed out quickly before testing anything further.

Anyone having the same problem and any suggested solution?

Maybe new to you but have been around for awhile I'm afraid. To me
these image-type spam seem to fool the Bayesian filters. With the TB

totally effective. Some of this spam types still get through and makes
you wonder. Adding a TB filter action derived from something common
from the message source of your spam which might be like* Message
Source contains Content-Type: image/gif;* works for me but possibly
could some nail legitimate email.

works. I got a little over 300 spams today=everyone sent to their

quits working. Bayes does good but it quits working after awhile. I
bought agava when it came out=still [EMAIL PROTECTED] 80%=but it works.
 The down side is=zero updates,very un-user friendly,interface is very
cheesy. I set regula up to do bayes filtering=will see in about 3-5
days if it really works,as I will turn avaga off on rely on regula to
really see what happens. IMO=regula is great just have to babblefish

Thanks for the interesting comments on Regula. Please drop a note

v3.63.08 IMAP autodisconnect timer still not working

2005-12-07 Thread steverio
I know this has been brought up before but not much have been said
about it except in the past archives...something about some IMAP
servers not recognizing the disconnect command for some users. This is
not so in my case. I use fastmail for IMAP. As I posted before
TBv3.62.14 worked perfectly with the disconnect timer option. Now with
TBv3.63.08 and 09 it does not. I have to manually close the connection
centre each time I start TB or if I check mail on my POP accounts.
Sure... I can hide the connection centre but then I cannot use the
message dispatcher as before. The only alternative I've found is
manually disconnect from the IMAP each time I check for mail or revert
back to TBv3.62.14. It is quite annoying! I see no mention of this so
I think it must be just me? Can anyone shed some more light on this?

Hi,

I don't know if others feel the same way, but I find the confirmation
dialog at the end a spell check (particularly) when sending a message
very annoying. It is not as though you can do anything other than pick
OK. It can also have other side effects.

The other day I was reporting abuse to an ISP and I quoted the entire
message (headers and all). Needless to say I got quite tired of
waiting for each spelling error to pop up and so I simply kept
picking with the mouse on where the ignore all was. Of course in the
end I picked where there was no dialog and strangely the message went
through without the attachment (I discovered this later). Then when I
closed The Bat!, I found that the spell check completion alert was
still there, and so was the message waiting to be sent. I thought that
something had happened to stop it being sent, so I sent it again. This
time it went through with the attachment as well.

Can this alert be optional with spell check before sending? As I said,
it is not as though anything can be done other than pick OK.

I never use the *Check before send/queue* option because it too
distracting for me. I use the *Automatic Checking* as you type option
instead.
