The Bat! creates subfolders for each program module.

After running Windows user backups, these get added to backup polluting
backup with useless data when a new 10.x version is released!?
Why are those folders with version numbers?

Please create subfolders without these version numbers so backups can
overwrite the old ones.

That page is in German, and the program itself is apparently in German.
The original website for TMManager doesn't exist any more (that I can
find). Is there an English-language version of the program someplace?

2007-03-15 Thread Matt Thoene
More of a general backup question but I am using a beta...

When I choose to create an update to an existing archive and select the
existing archive it creates a new smaller .tbk file. Am I to assume that
if I blow away the hard drive and reinstall the bat I will restore from
the original archive, then restore from the new smaller .tbk file which
will have the incremental data not captured in the original backup?

Restoring backups with 3.5 - any known problems?

2005-05-27 Thread Thorvald Neumann
Hæ!

I have installed WinXP Pro and wanted to port over TB and its mail
archive and settings from my Win2000 system.

So, I did a backup from v3.5 Pro.

I installed TB 3.5 Pro on WinXP Pro and tried to restore the backup
file.

TB now says me at some point during the restore, it cannot read the
file and aborts the restoration process. I did a new backup, but I
doesn't help.

Is this a known bug/behaviour?

I also tried to restore account by account, but TB stubbornly refuses
to do the full restore.

Maybe not the solution you're looking for, but you /could/ backup you
current installation, restore the old one, get your messages out
(export 'em or some such) then just restore the your working system.
Assuming you've not got gigabytes of data in your backups this could
be the quickest and easiest way.

Yeah, this was what I thought I'd have to end up doing. Turns out I
actually only need one of my accounts so I've done this but
selectively on that account. Easy enough and worked like a charm.

(I'd still be interested if theres a way of getting information from a
backup file without going through this process)

Thanks
