Re: Filtering is even more broken

It is an unfortunate fact of computer life that any software CAN become
corrupted, including TB and including downloads. Why not try restoring to
an earlier version which worked correctly and then install a new download of
 the latest version?

A truly clean solution would be exporting existing filters in
human-readable form, checking they don't have anything strange in them, then
wiping everything connected with TB (including folders in Application
data and registry entries), reinstalling and recreating the
profile from scratch and importing the filters.
This guarantees that any internal inconsistencies in the database
that possibly cause the errors will be neutralized.

Hello Stuart,

SC Filtering in this latest beta is even more broken than before. As well as
SC filters that only work 9 out of 10 times, one of my filters that used to
work
SC now quit working the way it should. The filter that used to filter to an
archive
SC folder seemed to have lost track of the archive folder.

What exactly you mean by losing track? The only way a filter could
lose track of a folder (i.e. the folder's name become unusable) is
that the filter configuration file become corrupted somehow, as I see
it. Could it be the case?

Hello Stefan,
A reminder of what Stefan Tanurkov typed on:

ST What exactly you mean by losing track? The only way a filter could
ST lose track of a folder (i.e. the folder's name become unusable) is
ST that the filter configuration file become corrupted somehow, as I see
ST it. Could it be the case?

How do I know if it has become corrupt?

Here is the filter:

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [94E92780.01C486BF.28DBFC11.26D0F257]
Name: The\20Bat\20Archive
Filter: {\0D\0A\20`13`0`5\0D\0A}
MoveMessage folder \5C\5C\5CArchive\5CThe\20Bat
IsActive
IsSendQueue
endFilter

I checked the files in the archive folder this morning and there was one that
was from yesterday and when I refiltered the account it sent all of this thread
to the archive even though it only started yesterday and it is supposed to only
send messages older than 5 days.

This is particularly unusual as it is a pop account.

My more concerning issue is with the IMAP accounts that only complete 9 of
10 transactions. (I mean that it does not seem to filter every one correctly,
it
may do them all but it may not). I also have an issue where a manual filter
sometimes acts twice on the same message.)

I would love to help straighten this out, but it is inconsistent and in part I
believe that you need to filter many messages at once using moderately
complicated filters.

BTW, this happens on 2 computers so if things are corrupt it has happened twice.

Let me know what other info I can provide.

As someone mentioned earlier this is a very important component of TB and if it
does not work consistently it really not anymore useful than Outlook.

From the lack of response to the above it would seem that your problem is
not being experienced generally. I certainly have not had new filtering
problems.
