Odd behaviour with scroll button

2002-05-22 Thread Marcus Ohlström

I know we've been through the scroll button and what it causes TB! to
do, but I discovered a (at least for me) new oddity which might help
tracking the problem down.

Here is how the table below should be interpreted. All scrolling is
done in the message list pane, I point the mouse over this area and
turn the scroll wheel at my mouse and the message list scrolls. So far
so good, the scrolling should as I've understood it only care about
where the mouse is, not which area of a window is focused for the
moment. However, regarding of which pane has the focus, the message
list scrolls different number of lines:

Pane in focus Number of lines scrolled
   in the message list pane
-
Folder pane5
Message list pane 6
Preview pane 8
Attachment pane1

Something is really strange here. I know TB! should only care about
the system configuration of the scroll wheel and not decide by itself
how many lines should be scrolled, but this - TB! scrolling different
number of lines depending on which pane is in focus is even more
strange.

After writing all this I tried the scrolling in the other panes with
the same result as above. I guess I should edit the mail and remove
all specific references to the message list pane but this few
explanatory lines will have to do instead.

Full ACK ... I didn't measured it in absolute number 'til now, but this is
how it works since several versions ago ...
It's not such annoying as some other mentioned it, but mysterious why
sometimes 5, other times 6 or 8 lines are scrolled .. in opposite to _1_.
When scrolling preview pane I also discovered it scrolling 3 and a _half_
... yes, one line was cut at half the height of the letters ...

True, but ever since v1.60, TB has conflicted with MS Mouse Drivers and
RITLabs have elected to ignore the problem. Their choice, but not my any
means, the only one. :o)

Slick. :-)))

I wonder who's the problem here though. I've been in this situation
before. It could go either way.

Was version 1.53t created before Ritlabs started using the new Delphi
version (I can't remember)? Is TB! the only Delphi based application
you have installed Nick?
