Re: Losing mail

Hello Maxim,

I am using IXWebhosting mail servers for all my domains. I used to use
the POP3 to access but they suggested the IMAP as there were issues
with getting all my mail. Going to IMAP4 too access seemed to help
correct the issue.

Cheers,

Hello Scuddy,

Ever since I started using my cell phone to access mail and changed
the bat to use IMAP4 from POP, I've had some strange happenings. I'm
on 50.20.1 at the moment. There was an interim 'fix' release to
address IMAP issues but it didn't work well.

I get 'ghost' messages that just don't exist anywhere. Not on the
email server, they just wont go away in the bat. I've tried to
re-install, clear cache and such but I think it is a bug in the
email/IMAP mailbox settings or something. I can't keep deleting and
re-setting up accounts as was suggested. I lost too much valuable
information!

My time with The Bat may have run it's course. It is just way too
unstable.

Cheers,

Skip Stein

 Hello Tbbeta,

Recently in the last couple of alpha/betas I have been noticing some strange
occurrences of missing mail. In one case I sent an e-mail from an IMAP account
to one of my POP accounts, but it never arrived. When I got home ot check the
file it shows in the sent mail box of the IMPA account, but never did show up
 in
 the POP account.

Secondly, I received a message in my inbox of an IMAP account, but when I went
to find it again it was nowhere to be found. I thought I had confused it with
another message until someone who had been cc'd on the e-mail, replied to
 all. A
search of the account finds no copy anywhere.

Are others experiencing these phantom disappearances?

My IMAP is working great. I haven't been having any problems. Nearly
all my sorting is done server side, so I have no idea about filters,
but I'm still more pleased with the bat, than thunderbird, or with the
native mail program in my ipod, or k-9 on my android.

I will try to keep an eye on things. My guess is the one issue was filtering
related as I also had some messages moved that were not marked as Read at the
same time as the message went missing. I also found the missing message in a
completely different account.

The other issue may have been due to the size. It was a large message and was
sent to a live.com account. Maybe they only allow a certain size.

I'm not sure what server is being used in the IMAP account. Here is the initial
info from the server:

you know, since I use the mail ticker to read mail ( new mail only) and
only use the search function to hunt for other messages, I couldn't tell
you if I have lost any messages... my inboxes have hundreds of messages
in them that filters didn't move, and I haven't deleted (yet). I do know
my backup size is growing, so it must be adding new messages, but how
would I know if one was deleted without knowing which account to look in?
