V I use my PC alone.

It is not your usage that determines the location of the file. As Alex
correctly pointed out, the program is designed for a multiuser
environment and must function appropriately. The real problem was a
misconfigured search.

My   setup   here   does  not  generate  a  new tbuser.def file when I
delete, or rename, the old one and then customise.  Have you any idea why?
