Hiding standart folders (while using MyGate NEWS gate)

2003-09-16 Thread Alexander A. Gomanyuk
Hello Batmans!

Is it possibly to hide Inbox, Outbox, Trash, Inbox_Known, Sent Mail ?

I'm using NEWS gate for The Bat, so I've created several accounts
for that Gate and standart folder seems to be useless and annoying

Your sincerely registered,
Sasha.

Unable To Register V2

2003-09-16 Thread Steve Mulhall
Hi folks,

I have recently upgraded my personal copy of V1.62 to V2 and have
received my TB Key and Checksum from The Bat! Team at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] however when I enter the key and checksum and my
password into the relevant boxes in the register window I am told that
the password is incorrect for the key used although I am 99% sure that
it isn't. In case it's relevant (and it may well be) I purchased the
software through the Ritlabs website and received my confirmation
e-mail from Cifnet.

I tried in vain to find the relevant support contact channel with which to
take my query but have been unable to find it (at least through the
Ritlabs website so my last resort was to send my query to the same
people that sent me my key (address above) although I expect all mail
from that account is automatically generated and therefore my mail
will go unread. Anyone have any ideas what I can do/who I can contact
etc?

Another question, I recently edited the keyboard shortcuts so that
Shift-R marked all messages in the selected folder as read. Then
obviously realised that Shift-R is what I use to type capital R. I
have since removed that shortcut but still every time I use that key
combination I am asked if I want to mark all messages as Read. Very
frustrating. I have thoroughly checked the list of keyboard shortcuts
and Shift-R doesn't appear anywhere.

Many thanks

You might think about updating your OS. Windows NT4 support is being
phased out by Microsoft, and as of 1 January 2005 you won't even be
able to get online fixes or support. NT4 is no longer available for
sale through any Microsoft channel. Expecting third-party developers
to go out of their way to support an OS that Microsoft itself won't
support anymore is asking a bit much.

You don't need a password for V2. The easiest way to ensure you are
entering the right key and checksum is make sure the email containing
these details is open and go to help|registration code.

You'll find the details are filled in for you.

Tried this but nothing happens i.e. go to Help | Enter Registration
Code with the e-mail containing this information open but the relevant
fields are not filled in automatically. Then tried manually entering both
the key and the checksum i.e. I have tried both cutting and pasting the
information from the e-mail and entering manually by hand and leaving the
password field blank but again I am told the password is incorrect for the
key used.

Hi Bat! Fans,

Invalid HTML !
Please forward this message to developers.
Thanks.
EConvertError '108410841084' is not a valid integer value

Nothing else.

I have Bat! set up to show both text and HTML (in tabs at the bottom

However, when I clicked reply to send the error message, I can read

Any clues as to this strange behaviour?

I didn't encounter a password request in my personal edition. I

Guys,

As you will see I have now sorted this out. In my haste I foolishly

Back to another question, any ideas how to tell TB that I have removed
the keyboard shortcut Shift-R to mark all messages read. The shortcut
no longer appears in the edit shortcuts menu window and yet when I
press Shift-R I am asked if I want to mark all messages as read. Most
frustrating.

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your prompt reply :-)

Big5 is displayed fine over here, except for the missing line breaks.
Which encoding are you talking about, and what is your Windows version?

It's true that, gb2312/big5 has been displayed well in plain text mode.
But, there are still some flaw. To see the attachment, TB still dont
display some character well. And I use the Plain Tex(windows) editor,
it's unable to auto-wrap chinese characters. What's more, TB cannot
handle korean characters.

In html mode, TB add some square in the mail. Apparently, TB's html
viewer isn't compatible with asian charset

My system is Win2000 Pro+SP4, IE6+SP1, TB v2.00.6

I haven't experienced problems, but that may be because I haven't
experienced a power failure for a long time. Where are you located?

I'm living in shanghai now. I used foxmail to get my mail months ago. I
encountered system crash(or power failure) while receiving
letters/compressing folders some times. The mail database corrupt and
lots of mails were missing. So I switch to becky for protecting my email
data. Mail data integrality is very important for me. so I'm curious
that how TB ensure the integrity of large mail database, before I
determine to transit to it.

The intpack used to contain some Chinese versions, but I have only an
subset with European languages at the moment, so I don't know the
current status. I think Max Masiutin [EMAIL PROTECTED] is the person
you want to contact with your noble intentions.

I don't know about Korean characters, but TB's lack of being able to

Squares usually appear over here when the font type does not support

Correction: Eudora's address book is natively in .TXT format and TB can
import simple addresses BUT it when it encounters a mailing list it (TB)
only imports the first user's address and names that user the mailing

I would have to manually edit nndbase.txt files so that each mailing list

difficult to accept.

You cannot encrypt and sign using PGP/MIME before actually hitting send.
This will not work. You have to enable the 'sign when completed' and
'encrypt when completed' options and then send the message. The message
and attachment will be PGP/MIME signed and encrypted during the sending
 process.

I just tried that. Everything works smoothly from TheBat's side. But
then the recipient (who is using Outlook-2000) gets an email that has
has a completely empty body and 2 attachments. (called ATT31902.ATT,

does nothing (it can't find anything to decrypt). And those files can't
seem to be saved and decrypted manually either.

SS dozen times). When it stops redisplaying, I get the chance to enter
SS the passphrase and all seems to work fine.

This happened to me while using PGP v6.5.8ckt. I never did figure out
what caused it. Upgrading to PGP v 8 cured the problem. You could also
try fully uninstalling and then reinstalling PGP.

Yes, I am using PGP v6.5.8ckt. Thanks for the info. I probably won't
upgrade just yet, unless 658ckt is also causing the other problems.
This one is relatively minor. But at least I now know the culprit, and
my options :)

SS Just one question: it seems that the only way to decrypt the
SS in-coming attached file is to save the file, then decrypt it outside
SS of thebat!. Is that correct ?

If the file is encrypted by itself then yes. If the message and file are
PGP/MIME encrypted then you wouldn't have to go through that hassle.

From outlook-2000, the message is sent (also using PGP 658ckt) with
sign/encrypt on send. In the Text tab page in TheBat I get the new
button at the top right of the screen to decrypt/verify. I press that,
then I enter my pass-phrase, then the text component of the message is
decrypted, but the attachment is still showing in the left of screen
as encrypted. So I am having to go through that hassle. Are you

the same step ?

config file of some sort, I'd rather do that as it would keep things standardized.
THe two views I want to copy are my default view and the view being used by my inbox

Because the To: header isn't (shouldn't be) used for routing. You can

destination for a message gets transferred via the so called 'smtp

If Outlook doesn't support PGP/MIME, then what it's doing is encrypting

2003-09-16 Thread Thomas F
Hello TBUDL!

when I send messages with TB, a message ID will be generated from the
domain name of my email address. For email traffic this is good enough
(for me at least), but on the usenet, people are sensitive about this.

I use TB and MyGate to read/send news.

I have two choices to conform with usenet rules:

1.) I can get a free unique FQDN to be used for mid's only. How do I
tell TB to use that FQDN instead of the domail of the email address?

2.) I could also send the posting out without any mid. The newsserver
will then generate one. That's fine with me. How do I tell TB to send
a message out without any mid?

Hello Batmans!

I'v encountered, that if I write message with PGP Encrypt when
completed option ON and save it into Draft then after opening it again for
further editing Encrypt when completed option is OFF already

Is it possibly to be ensure that if messages is intending to be
encrypted (Encrypt when coplete ON) then even after saving into draft it
will be done without additional setting any options manually ?

Your sincerely registered,
Sasha.

This is a many times requested thing. It happens with sign on
complete as well. It appears they don't store any of the encryption
options when it comes to drafts. Wish they'd fix that.

Dear fellow! I DON'T NEED messages to be ENCRYPTED (SIGNED) when
placing into Draft !

I NEED, that TB2 DON'T FORGET state of Options Encrypt when
completed (Sign when completed)

So after opening message from draft and sending it message to be
Encrypted at all !

AG

R What else are batters using for a junk filter plug-in?
- POPFile (http://popfile.sourceforge.net)
I looked. Not really a plug-in. It runs outside of TB. Anyone else?
