TB on Linux

2004-12-10 Thread Nav
Has anyone tried running TB on Linux using Wine?

Does Ritlabs have any plans to release Linux version of TB.

I really don't like windows, but TB is holding me up :)

Hello Nav,

N Has anyone tried running TB on Linux using Wine?

There's plenty in the archives, but for my money (or lack of it!) Wine
is as good as Crossover with TB. It runs, but you have to take a bit
of are with what you click on in the UI.

N Does Ritlabs have any plans to release Linux version of TB.

N I really don't like windows, but TB is holding me up :)

Perhaps one reason that Ritlabs is holding back is that most of the
Linux e-mail clients offer a lot of the power (regex) functionality
already. OK, you have to pipe out to a command line, but this
shouldn't be a problem to anyone who's regexing.

I've recently been playing with Evolution, and this strikes me as a
great compromise between user simplicity and power. It's the kind of
thing that I *could* see myself recommending to friends and family.

It also managed to import all my contact and calendar information from
Windows in one hit. That's a first for me.

They had plans once. But I think they've given them up long ago.

I always hated Windows, i switched to a PC and Windows rather late. I come from
the Amiga section and that has spoiled me. But now with Win XP and SP2 and
stopped hating Windows. I just hate MS now ;-)

yes, and I am using it at home for Word and Presentation, but for what I do, I
need Excel (Plenty of Excel VBA programming in it).

Presently I am using the betas of the v2 OOo and I really like the latest beta.

This is just a shot in the dark, but

In the newer versions you can select several emails and use
Specials/Add to Address Book. Maybe you could use this to create a
separate address book that could then be used as your BCC list for
your message.

We all hope so, plenty of people have added their name to that request on the
wish list. The more people that endorse the wish, the more chance we got...
Which at the moment is probably zero.

I really don't like windows, but TB is holding me up :)

Me neither but it's a necessary evil for some of us. I have an XP laptop and

Unfortunately Xandros doesn't like my modem and says there aren't any
drivers for it so I can't even play with it. However, when I was on ADSL
I had a play but found it all so incredibly slow. Must be the way I have
