Wow, that is strange to hear, it worked the instant I installed it, I
trained it very little and it has been doing well.

Thats not so strange - I don't know how BayesIt actually works, but I think
everything is considered ham until you re-classify it. :)

Of course I have NO email offers that I consider non-spam, I don't want
to be 'kept up to date', when I need something I'll start looking, not
get what someone sent to my desktop to sell me something. Maybe that is
 part of the reason?

The success of any Bayes filter is dependant on one's email profile, and
undoubtfully a consistent classification by the end-user is necessary. Its
surprising however how precise PopFile can classify mails (PopFile can not
only keep ham and spam apart, but classify mails into groups that you
define yourself).

If I start having problems, I'll download K9 as you suggested, it looks
fine except that it's external which will be a bit more of a pain.

As it is now, both have their pros cons... BayesIt integrates nicely into
TB, K9 has a much better configuration interface. I actually find it easier
to re-classify a mail with K9 than with BI.

BayesIt needs better integration into TB, but I think that is not the
problem of TB but rather the plugin interface. For example, I'd like to
have some buttons for classification in the mail viewer and preview pane,
and not nested in some right-click menu. I'd also like to see the score of
each message in TB, and not only in the logfiles of BI. For me, K9's
interface is simply better for that. PopFile's interface statistics are
unrivalled IMHO, but then again, the program is so slow, it hurts. :)

It nullifies the newline feed that comes after it.

So in your template, a line break is there, but it's not generated in

Its good for macro stacking if you want to keep the code tidier and
easier to understand. This code %- tells TB to continue with the output
right at this point, despite the presence of a linefeed.

For example, if you want to add a header in your messages, your reply
template could look like this:

.-
| %SetHeader(X-Binford,More Power!)%-
| Hello dear %OFROMNAME,
`-

This way, your message will start with Hello dear... on the *first* line,
because %- prevents the linefeed to be inserted, and you'll have a less
cryptic template layout. To get the same result without %- you'd write

.-
| %SetHeader(X-Binford,More Power!)Hello dear %OFROMNAME,
`-

...which is maybe not as readable as the two-line version (this is a rather
simple example, you can think of more complex setups, of course).

You can simply enter the pro license number, the home and pro
installation files contain the same executable for TB.
The only difference between the two installation packages is that the
pro version contains additional languages, but you can download the
international pack for those too. (It works for home users too.)

Simply put, your message base is encrypted. In the regular version of
The Bat!, the message base is stored unencrypted. Anyone with a text
editor and the proper permissions can read your downloaded e-mail.

As I see it, there are two ways to decrypt the message base. You can
either enter your password or insert a hardware token (usually a USB
key-like device).
