Please, need help threading correctly...
Hello tbudl, The aim is simple. How do I thread by TO: Address and NOT TO: Name then Address? If this is impossible then: How do I re-filter all messages in my database so to strip the name from the recipient field and only leave behind the Address? I am trying to filter against the TO: address BUT the bat will only filter against the name and address BUT! the name takes precedence over the Address. How can I either reverse this behavior OR strip all recipient names in my database? I love it when the bat does what I need... I feel helpless when it doesn't... Any advice? Re[2]: Hungarian manual
Hello MFPA, Some short descriptions: - how to store the mails at more than one HDD/partition all the time (even if one HDD crash, absolutely no mail will be lost) M Sounds interesting - Make a new account (AccountX) with some false email address, set the home directory on the 2nd HDD - AccountX properties: Ignore Check all account request - Setup folders in AccountX with every other account's name - Setup a filter in every other account that the incoming and outgoing mails will have a copy in the corresponding AccountX folders So, if you make frequent backups, after a HDD crash all you have to do is backup the first HDD and copy back the mails from AccountX and sort them (manually). But none of the email will be lost... After a backup, if you wish, you may delete mails from AccountX. - how can more than one TB! run at the same PC without changing Windows user profiles M I thought it couldn't (unless using windows run as feature). In the new v3 there is this reg: commandline parameter, right? But this method works with v1, also: - Lets say TB! is stored in C:\Program files\The Bat! - It has a reg key at HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! A. So you have v1 on the PC, but you would like to try v2? - Rename C:\Program files\The Bat! to C:\Program files\The Bat!v1 - Rename HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! to HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat!v1 - Install v2 to C:\Program files\The Bat! and try - If you would like to temporarily switch back to v1, do this: - Rename C:\Program files\The Bat! to C:\Program files\The Bat!v2 - Rename HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! to HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat!v2 - Rename C:\Program files\The Bat!v1 to C:\Program files\The Bat! - Rename HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat!v1 to HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! OR B. If you would like to try v2 as an non-final upgrade from v1: - Copy!! C:\Program files\The Bat! to C:\Program files\The Bat!v1 - Rename HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! to HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat!v1 - Install v2 to C:\Program files\The Bat! (upgrade) and try - If you would like to temporarily switch back to v1, do this: - Rename C:\Program files\The Bat! to C:\Program files\The Bat!v2 - Rename HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! to HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat!v2 - Rename C:\Program files\The Bat!v1 to C:\Program files\The Bat! - Rename HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat!v1 to HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! To keep the mails from downloading in each version, and other small issues: I leave it for your intelligence :) - how to speed up TB! startup dramatically by hiding old mails but keeping them always accessible M Again, sounds interesting. My folder for this list currently M contains over 11000 messages and takes about 4 seconds and another M with 4000 takes about 3 quarters of a second to load. - Make a new account (AccountX) with some false email address - AccountX properties: Ignore Check all account request - Setup an access password (for example 1 :) for it) - Move your unnecessary mails to some folders of AccountX If you startup TB!, AccountX is closed, so its mails wont be loaded, so: faster startup! But whenever you need a mail from it, open it with the password and get the mail. :) PS.: With some same technique it is possible to password protect TB! startup. The point is to setup an account group and make this access protected false email AccountX the administrator. So, for the startup you need the password, but you dont need to open this account over and over again when TB! is started (that is why it is better to have an AccountX as administrator than a normal, active account. If you password access an active account, you need the password once you close the active account. Yes, you need password to open AccountX, but as you dont read its mails, you dont really have to open it...) -- Vili Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

My own Icon set
Hello, Over the last few weeks I've done an icon set of my own combining various elements which now suite me just fine. I thought I'd post it to see if anyone else would like to have a look This icon set is a combination of The Bat! 3.5 and a set I found off the internet. I personally don't like a lot of the new 3.5 version icons so I have either used different ones or modified them. Apart from these personal changes, the two main items are a large and very outstanding yellow unread mail icon and a large and easy to see red arrow in the outbox when it has a draft message in it. If you fancy a try then the icon and batskin.xml files are here and, if you don't like them, then thanks for trying anyway: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lazyhomes/35icons.zip -- Regards, Richard | The Bat! 3.5.26 SpamPal | Windows XP (build 2600), version 5. 1 Service Pack 2 | F-Prot AV, Kerio 4.20.B5 and no Plug-ins http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lazyhomes/holiday.html Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Also, if worse did come to worse and the developers for some reason or another refused to add such an option, is there a secret hack or any third party utilities that will strip all recipient names from messages in my database? Thanks to everyone who had something good to say! -- Best regards, Victor B. Thomas Fernandez @ 2005-Jun-13 11:25:29 AM Filtering for TBUDL mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] My TBUDL filter is: Recipient Contains tbudl@thebat.dutaint.com with the action set to move to my TBUDL folder, seems to work OK :-) This will work correctly only if you haven't subscribed to the other TB lists to which some message are crossposted. I use Header matches List-Id: tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com. It works great. -- Chris Quoting when replying to this message is good for your karma. Filter processing
Batlovers, The following lines are from one of my account logs 14/06/2005, 09:16:48: FETCH - Received message from monzon_car [EMAIL PROTECTED], size: 4011 bytes, subject: [EDI-L] Help on 810 Version 5010 14/06/2005, 09:16:48: FETCH - received message from [EMAIL PROTECTED] (4011 bytes) (processed by ACPL (Popfile), ACPL (Popfile), ACPL (Popfile), EDI-L), URL: msgid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The second line appears to me to indicate that it was processed by a filter called ACPL (Popfile) three times, then by a filter called EDI-L. Can anyone interpret the line and confirm that? If so, I am trying to work out why this happened. I have a common filter called ACPL (Popfile). The message met the conditions of the filter, but it should have had no effect since it the filter moves messages to the inbox of the account into which the message was originally downloaded anyway. It was then correctly processed by the EDI-L filter. What is it that would have caused the ACPL (Popfile) filter to be applied 3 times? Strange filtering/message tossing issue.
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hello All, I've been noticing a peculiar problem with The Bat!. Messages coming in for my 5 accounts get tossed into whatever mailbox strikes the program's fancy... Doesn't matter what account or what mailbox. For example, when I fired up my laptop a short while ago and started The Bat!, it pulled in some 50 or 60 messages for 3 of the 5 various accounts. (Picked up from 3 different mail servers, of course.) They were tossed into random mailboxes. Most of them landed in the JUNK folder of the first account. Others were randomly dispersed; some correct, some wrong. This problem has been with the program for quite a while now; I've reported it to the bug submission address, but some software engineer type person at Ritlab marked the problem solved - no comments, no solutions, no nothing. Does anyone have any ideas on this? It's a really annoying but non-fatal. Has anyone else run into it? (BTW, it happens on any machine. I have copies of The Bat! installed on 2 machines and the same quirk shows up.)
