I guess your known filter could be inactive or all messages could be

Other solutions are possible, like when you've defined X-Apparently as

Depends a bit on the search you were using.
Quick search bar, just press escape in the quick search toolbar
Quick search bar with message list tabs enabled, just switch to
the 'All' tab in the message list.
With the full search tool, just close the window.

For quite some time I was very well used to having TB close
immediately upon shutting down and having a few POP accounts. Even my
Outlook always had closed down the same way. The addition of an IMAP
account changed the amount of time closing TB and not Outlook so I was
curious why. But now I'm happy with the very little extra time TB
requires to do this especially compared to some other users. But this
could change when I accumulate more mail and folders, etc. Now, I just
consider IMAP a work in progress in the development of TB and am

The solution was to use RegEdit32

Find HKey_CurrentUser - Software - RIT - TheBat

Export this, TheBat entry, as a backup.

If the problem comes back, use RegEdit32

to delete the troublesome registry entry

and then import the registry entry that you had backed up.

Have done the backup, and hope I don't have to use the backup.

PB Does anyone know of a quicker or better fix if this happens again?

TF If TB doesn't respond after opening, try alt-F4 (I'm serious).

Yes, drastic having to uninstall.

alt-F4 would not work on it, only task manager.

MM I have had to do this regularly. Most annoying.
MM I have unchecked Check Mailbox at Startup and when I want to

MM So far, anyway, that avoids me having to use Task Manager.

Thanks for this suggestion. So far have not had to resort to this, and
