Exporting messages with a filter

2006-01-26 Thread Graham Smith
Hello,

I am trying to set up a filter so that emails to and from a specific
client, filtered into a folder in The Bat! will be exported as text
files, into a windows folder that can be accessed by an
external program.

I am setting up a filter using the Export a message option and go through the
set up until I am asked for the file name, but as I haven't exported
any messages yet, I don't yet have a file name. I have tried putting
the ClientsName.txt as a file name but The Bat! just tells me the
file doesn't exist - which it doesn't, but I am expecting The Bat! to
create the file name on export (I have selected the Increment file
name option).

I am obviously missing something simple here, and would appreciate
some help.

Does not compute when you have both attached and remote images in a

Try selecting a e-mail and just drag-n-drop it to the e-mail you are
 editing, works for me.

Or maybe I misunderstood your question? ;)

Ops!... It works here too... :$

I've been missing this one for all these years... TB is really the best!

I can explain why I missed it in the first place: I always have my
main TB window maximized, and when I drag-and-drop (e.g. attachments
from a mail to another) I do so by dragging to the task bar, hovering
over the button representing my other message window and dropping on
the now focused window (not easy to explain, I hope you get the
picture). This does not work with a mail dragged directly from the
message list (nor does it work to drag and drop to the desktop -- may
be related).

It works if I unmaximize my main window and simply drag from one
window to the other. I think I can live with this one ;-)

Thanks for the time Fredrik.

A batch file passed the filename could be used to create the file too:

Export to a known file name, say EXPORTED.TXT and then run a batch

batch file as the first parameter (shell variable $1).

Re[2]: VF show all NEW mssgs only

2006-01-26 Thread rich gregory
RG Is there a way to create a new virtual folder in v2.12 that will
RG hold only UNREAD messages from selected folders?
RO Yes

RG I see how to select folders but not how to only choose UNREAD to
RG include in the new VF.
RO Create a new virtual folder
RO The window you see has two tabs
RO Select the 'filter' tab
RO On the filter tab you select 'fast search'
RO and that will enable you to select 'unread'

I tried and failed on the FIRST step!
How do you create a new VF? I clicked on the Virtual tab in the
folder list pane an right clicked in the empty list. I chose NEWFolder but
then nothing happens! (INS doesn't work either.)

Thx mucho

Bad news! The filter failed to take any action.

I sent 3 mssgs to myself. All at the same email address but with 3
variations on the real name part of the address. ONE was correct and
was suppoed to get thru, the other 2 were a wrong name and a blank
where the real name would be. All 3 got thru.
