Can't get a preview pane

2006-04-12 Thread alists
Hello listbuds...

for some reason, starting today I can't get the preview pane
working. I cannot make it appear... I've been using TB since
2001, so I'm not a novice but nothing I do will bring it
back.

I'm on 3.71.03, winxp I can't fathom why this is not
working. Thanks..

Apart from
  View - Message Auto-view
There's nothing you can do about it.

Maybe it helps to close TB, rename the tbuser.def file in your account
directory to tbuser.old and start TB again. Note that this will
disable all of your customizations, so it should not be the first
thing you try.

A template question

2006-04-12 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi all,

I need help !!!

I use a tracking mail system called DidTheyReadIt available at
http://www.didtheyreadit.com.

In oreder to track my emails I have to add .didtheyreadit.com at the end of
each address of my new/reply messages.

With templates, if possible, I would like to autoappend the _to_ field with
this .didtheyreadit.com text.

Is it currently possible and how to achieve this please ?

Greetings,

It was a bug, which was discussed on the German NG. It's already fixed
in the version you and I use. I don't know whether it's only fixed
in the beta or already in the last release version, though.

You can't do that with new messages, with replies you can use this:
%To=''%To='%OFromAddr.didtheyreadit.com'%-
This won't work properly for 'replies to all'

For new messages the best thing would be to add the
.didtheyreadthis.com to the address book entries. When you're doing
some filtering with AB groups the best thing would be to add both the
'enhanced' address as the real address in each AB entry.

Or he can create this QT:

%VARton='%Toname'%-
%VARtoa='%Toaddr'%-
%To=''%To='%VARton %VARtoa.didtheyreadit.com'

And then, when creating a new message, enter the desired To address and
while in the message body type the name of the QT followed by
Ctrl+Space.

Theoretically, this should work:

%TO=%TO%-.didtheyreadit.com%-

(Not tested)

I am just wondering how that service works. The sender will now *how
long* I view a message, and I wouldn't even know about it? Well. Also,
their Privacy Policy clearly states that they will use the sender's
details (paying member or not) for marketing purposes. Hm. If I want
to know whether anybody reads my messages, I set Receipt and Reading
confirmation headers in TB. But whoever wants a service provider do
that, and pay money for the privilege to receive spam in return,
should just go ahead.

They use an embedded image (web bug). So, since The Bat! doesn't
download images from the web (nor do most modern clients [Outlook 2003
INCLUDED!], by default), we are safe.

A sample message's source looks like this:

Still, the how long question remains unresolved.
