Subfilters
Hello TB User Discussion List, I think I understand how to use subfilters, but I can't find the help material in the help file. What do I type into BM Search to find the help and examples? IIRC the help file predates the subfilters, so you're out of luck. Basically subfilters act the same as ordinary filters, they only act upon messages that have triggered their parent filter. That parent doesn't need to have enabled the option 'continue processing with other filters' in order to have its subfilters to be processed. There used to be some issues with regard to common subfilters. I don't know whether they're solved yet, so you might do best to avoid those. -- Groetjes, Roelof I think therefore I am overqualified. http://www.voormijalleen.nl/ The Bat! 3.96.04 (BETA) Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 1 pop3 account, server on LAN OTFE enabled P4 3GHz 2 GB RAM pgpizFsm47YfO.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

MM verify fail means, that Ritlabs fixed it, but reporter/updater failed to MM verify this bugfix, so this is correct status. On this particular one, multiple people have verified it as *not* fixed, going back close to two years now. One gets the impression that there are bugs RITLabs has no intention of fixing. IMHO this is one they should look at. It's a pretty basic feature that simply doesn't work and is reproducible. preview pane weirdness
methinks i'm going crazy ... i use the full-height account tree window mode and used to be able to make the preview pane disappear but now don't seem to be able to. is there a configuration setting to control this or is my only option to drag the message list down to 'cover' the preview pane? i can do this when TB is maximized but it doesn't work when TB is 'windowed'. once the message list gets to within one inch (or so) of fully covering the preview pane, the entire bottom of TB starts to move down with the message list. this has happened since the 3.96.07 (beta) but i'm not sure it's TB related cuz i just built a new pc and lots has changed in terms of hardware and drivers. any suggestions other than psychoanalysis will be appreciated. thanks/regards, .. mark davidson -- Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Deterioration over time of Export Text
Hello TB User Discussion List and TB Beta List, I started keeping a log of all message filtering back on July 29, 2003. I did this by adding an Export the message action. I use default settings (Plain text and Append to existing file). For the Template I have (for this group): %Date=yymmddhhnnss tbudl This produces a line for each message containing a time stamp followed by a short name for the last filter the mail went through. So from 2003 through most of August 5, 2006, it had one entry per line for each message filtered. But late in the day of 8/5/06, it began double spacing all of the lines! I changed nothing, except probably the version of The Bat!. Then on February 5, 2007, all hell broke lose! Looking at the last double spaced entry and the first wacky format: 070205160609 spam^M ^M [EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@ [EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@ [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is how my editor (Gvim) displays it. It uses unix format for this mess (lines end with a LF) and ^M is how it shows the CR. The ^@ is a hex 00. This looks like some style of Unicode. If the above is confusing, here's how those two lines look in a hex dump: 0033 8d50 0d 0a 30 37 30 32 30 35 31 36 30 36 30 39 20 73 ..070205160609 s 0033 8d60 70 61 6d 0d 0a 0d 0a 30 00 37 00 30 00 32 00 30 pam0.7.0.2.0 0033 8d70 00 35 00 31 00 36 00 31 00 31 00 35 00 31 00 20 .5.1.6.1.1.5.1. 0033 8d80 00 73 00 70 00 61 00 6d 00 0d 00 0a 00 0d 0a 30 .s.p.a.m...0 I can easily convert my 200,000 line file back to normal. But how can I get The Bat! to write Plain Text files again? I have copied the beta group because I believe the February change to wacky text was in a beta release. -- Best regards, Bill TB!
