Please include a signature delimiter in your messages. This consists
of a , i.e., a '-- ' by itself on a line.
This allows your readers, when replying, to quote your text without
the signature and list footers since everything below and including
the sig delimiter is excluded when quoting.

You can easily automate this process by including the sig delimiter in
your templates.

Even if you barely have a signature to speak of, that doesn't make any
difference to whether or not you need a cut mark. You are being
courteous to other readers since at least three lines of text is added
to your signature by the list server.

To find out why these MOD messages are posted to the list instead of
private mail, please read the welcome message you received when you
subscribed.

Thank you.

I'm doing that with folder identities (set in the folder properties),
other ways are quick templates or address book templates (the latter
are useful when sending to a mailing list)

Dictionaries and Vista

2007-09-02 Thread Secret Squirrel
Hi,

Just upgraded to Vista, re-installed The Bat and have noticed that I can no
longer add words to the dictionary (right click on a word Bat says is wrongly
spelt, and go 'Add to Dictionary' and the word is not added, instead it stays
as underlined indicating it is wrongly spelt). Is this a bug in The Bat, or is
it a case of Vista's new 'cannot allow write access to C:\Program Files for a
non-admin user' policy (I note that this is where the dictionary files are
located)?

Also on the subject of dictionaries, when I go into the Spell Checker menu, I
select 'British English' from the Language menu (which is fine), but when I go
into the Dictionaries option, I see the language of the Dictionary file
(correct.tlx) is American English. I can't see any way to change this to
British (I'm sick of The Bat marking "maximise" as wrong and suggesting
"maximize" instead). Can anyone help?

The Bat may just be trying to have a bet each way - if I type these four words
into a message:
minimise
minimize
maximise
maximize
The Bat marks minimize as wrong, and maximise as wrong. One of the differences
between British and American English is that British uses "S" instead of "Z".
You can see by these 4 examples, The Bat is not being consistent in its
spellings. It is saying that one word spelt with a "Z" is wrong but another
word spelt with an "S" is also incorrect. It seems to me that the British
English dictionary in The Bat has an incorrect mixture of British and American
spellings inside it. If anyone knows of a better British English dictionary
then the default Bat one, please let me know. Australian English would be even
better :)

Well, what I usually do is just to change the text in the "From"
field when I edit the mail message, this will show a different From
address (change the Reply-To as well).

Doing this from a quick template should not be that complicated
  either.

No, I was talking about "Process Explorer" a programme that is like Task

That's what I see too.

I see the same. On the APPLICATION page I see two icons (only for the Bat)
but only one is listed under PROCESSES.

Richard was talking about the "Processes" page in the Task Manager. I
too can see two icons in the "Applications" page, but I only see one
"thebat.exe" in the "Processes" page.

When going back to 3.99.3 I received this error message:
  Internal Error 2753 thebat.exe.BBD$A38C_B875_4E46_B27C_5CAECB025

TB! started 3.99.24 after I made sure the launch box was ticked.

I really don't think it is worth the effort.
