Re: Can't Edit Some Filters

2008-04-28 Thread Marten Gallagher
 Hello TB User Discussion List,

Some of my filters, although they stilll work, cannot be
 edited.

Hmmm - interesting - I have been having filter trouble since latest TB version
but have been unable to pin down the symptoms properly - new filters in folders
outside accounts seem to be not working.

I wonder ifnthere is something about filters that has been upset in latest
version?

 MoveMessage folder \5C\5CBill\5CInbox\5CTo\20Me
 IsActive
 IsSendQueue
 endFilter

I do notice in this filkter you have pasted that thre are forwrd slashes where
I woul expect backslashes to esape characters

eg: bill/0D/0Amccarthy

Could that be something to investifate?

When the Bat responds to a 'Message has been read' request, it appends this:

The Bat! - automatic mail servant of...

I want to edit that standard. Where is it to edit?

MG The Bat! - automatic mail servant of...

 It is under Account|Properties|Templates|Reading confirmation.

Oh for goodness sake - of course!

And what are you doing still awake?

Only 12 months ago exactly I was in NSW! Sigh

I remember from some time ago that TB! gets problems with too many
conditions in a filter. No-one could tell the exact limit, but it turned
out to be a solution to use address book groups for this. So the filter
only needs to check if an address is in a certain group instead of
checking *all* conditions (addresses) every time. Maybe you can use this
approach too.

Possibly, my filters are working fine and I haven't edited
them for at least a month. I noticed this inability to edit
just yesterday.

I don't think so. Looking at serveral filters, I always see
/0D/0A separating list items.

Whether it searches a list or an address book doesn't appear
to raise performance issues.

I was surprised you mentioned address books (or groups),
given that I have generic names like @abc where I want to
catch [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] I tried out your
suggestion but it didn't work.

My filter is working fine, but doesn't display for editing.
I edited the filter, by copying and pasting to my editor
another item to the list. I pasted from my editor to the
Sorting Office and tried it out - perfect!

But this is a clumsey way to edit the Sorting Office :-)
