Extraordinary! I have already forwarded the link to my colleagues.

By the way, do you this link too?

PB Think a few of them do not work but that may be because they have not
PB been updated.

The link I posted hasn't been updated since 2007. Ritlabs does not
believe in investing this kind of user assistance. There was an
attempt at a user-maintained wiki at one time, but I think it has died
off.

TB bevahing strangely: spontaneously sent messages - can this be stopped?

2011-01-10 Thread Sacks, Avram
Hi, all

What could be the cause of The Bat sending out old messages? This
morning I became aware that at least four old messages from three
different user accounts resident in our Bat software at home, have been
sent out in the past 24 hours. I am aware of at least four occurrences,
but there could be more. It is fitting that there is, on this list, a
perfect example: the only message registered as having been received on
this list yesterday, was one from our home-based account for general
list serv mail: achdu...@gmail.com. That message was written on July
4, 2010, yet, was received by the list yesterday!! Even more curious is
that our sent mail folder shows this message as having been sent on July
4, 2010, but there is no record in my Bat folder, here, at the office
(using a different e-mail client and account) of that message ever
having been received by the list until yesterday, January 9, 2011. I
suspect I would find the same behavior vis a vis other messages.

What could be causing this strange behavior? What steps can I take to
stop this from happening?

Hallo Avram,

Can't explain it. TB only sends messages that it finds in the outbox.
Once it has left the outbox, TB won't send it (again).
However, I tracked the messages sent to this list and its headers
state that message has been received by gmail only yesterday, so it
doesn't look like gmail is mucking up. Any parties after gmail, like
the list server aren't misbehaving either.
So it really looks like the faulty behaviour is on your system.

Have you got any messages left in your outbox? Does your log mention
anything about sending a message to this list? If not then you should
figure out what other software you're using the interferes with your
mail transport. Especially with it's acting like a (transparent) proxy
server. The most likely culprit would be your virus scanner.
Did you changed your preferred virus scanner somewhere arounf July
last year? And did you change it back recently?

I'm just thinking aloud, not putting any blame...
