Re[2]: shared folders - one more try
hi, Peter Palmreuther said among others: P They're named Common folders not because the can be shared P without hassle between different people, but only because they don't P belong to an account. ok, that's my fault. i barked the wrong tree. thx alexander -- Using The Bat! v1.62i on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2 Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re[2]: shared folders - one more try
hi, Peter Palmreuther asked: P No ... but were in The Bat! you've seen shared folders? what a sophisticated question. I am talking abount the folders, that are called common folders in The Bat! . imho, to use common folders could sometimes, in very special situations, mean, that they are shared - got it? alexander -- Using The Bat! v1.62i on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2 Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

hi, i think it's time to polish up my english ;) Mark Wieder said: M message said you explicitly did *not* want to share the folders...? upgrade from 1.51 to 1.62i done
hi, after testing with my own account (you can't buy courage) i did a cold upgrade on our terminalservers without change user /install to keep the registry settings. and it is up and running. folderstructure and settings are left unganged - even language settings (we use german and one french) and pgp is ok. i can not recall by which upgrade the folderstructure was changed automatically, but here is our TheBat-history: v1.3 - v1.42 - v1.45d - v1.47 - v1.51 - v1.62i thx again alexander -- TheBat v1.62i - Windows2000 Terminalerver TCP-Workstation mode only Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re[2]: upgrade from 1.51 to 1.62i
hi, i think the dust is clearing ;) the test-userprofile i updatet was from an older version which indeed did not have the structure as mentioned by Mark Wieder. the users that are using v1.51 by now, all have he structure Mail/account/inbox (etc.). so i am going to try this with a more recent userprofile and will let you participate in my experiences ;) thx to Mark and Thomas, for putting me on the way alexander Alexander Jernejcic said: T Hello Jernejcic, T On Thu, 27 Feb 2003 17:08:10 +0100 GMT (27/02/03, 23:08 +0700 GMT), T Jernejcic Alexander wrote: are there any caveats, hints or points to information regarding an upgrade from 1.51 to 1.62? i would like to make it as painless as possible to my users. i did the upgrade on a testinstallation and it created a new folder structure beside the old folders - what i do not like to happen to my users... Re[2]: public folders
hi again, in reply to my question: J ... Then i took a third workstation (let's call it dispatcher) to fetch J the mails from a pop3 server and fill the mails into this folder J groupIn - that too was just easy. ... Mark Wieder said: M ... You should also M look into the client-server features: set one computer (the one that M will be updating the folder) to TCP-server mode and put the others M into workstation mode. ... maybe a silly question, but is there a mixed mode? we are using an internal mail server. what i did not mention yet (please forgive me) : we use citrix terminalserver and the workstation described above is only just another terminalserver session running on a thin client. btw: TheBat behaves great on citrix. /thx alexander -- Using The Bat! v1.51 on Windows NT - 5.0 Build - 2195 Service Pack 2 and Citrix Metaframe 1.8 Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
public folders
hi, for our upcomming fax-server i am searching a solution for public (or shared, or common or whatever you will name them) folders. I tried the following scenario (using TheBat v 1.51): I created a folder groupIn on a shared drive from one workstation with account A and then created a folder with the same name from another workstation in account B pointing to the shared dir - so far so well. We both are able to see it and to work with it. Then i took a third workstation (let's call it dispatcher) to fetch the mails from a pop3 server and fill the mails into this folder groupIn - that too was just easy. But: This shared folder groupIn does not update automatically. Incomming mails (feeded by the dispatcher) do not show up untill i manually refresh an A and B and the same with the status of the mails (read, unread or even deleted). That behavior is not manageable for our users. Is it possible to do this with 1.62i? Anyone did that yet? thx in advance Alexander Jernejcic Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
