Newbie question on filtering Spam
Are there any ready-made Bat macros for filtering out spam? I have just joined and haven't explored the options to search the archives, so bear with me, please. Julio Juncal Current version is 1.62r | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Newbie question on filtering Spam
Hello Roelof, On Monday, June 09, 2003, you wrote: RO BTW You started your question as an answer to another thread. That's RO not the best thing to do for the following reason. RO The Bat is able to thread messages properly, in order to see what I RO mean, just select the folder where you're storing the messages from RO this list. Go to the menu: view - view threads by - references. Now RO you'll see that all messages are lined up after the message to which RO they're first, second (or whatever) level replies to. RO You started what's essentially a new thread by replying to another RO message. That means it shows up as listed in another thread. Since RO people sometimes skip messages in threads they don't consider RO interesting (for lack of time). They might skip your message too, RO since they're not aware of the newly started thread. So next time RO you'd do yourself a favor by sending a new message in stead of a RO reply, because you're reaching a larger audience and one of those RO might have the answer you've been waiting for. Thanks for the explanation, Roelof! I appreciate it. Best regards, Julio mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Current version is 1.62r | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Outgoing messages in HTML (!)
Hello Alexander, On Thursday, February 03, 2000, you wrote: Hi there! On 3 Feb 00, at 17:34, Julio Juncal wrote about "Outgoing messages in HTML (!)": I am writing messages to mailing lists in what I think is plain texts. But they come back in HTML. Not all of them, but some. How can this be? This cannot be;-) TB never sends HTML, unless you manually attach HTML file to an empty message. There might be two reasons for your messages coming back in HTML that I can think of: (i) the list software is set up to do so. It's simple indeed: just replace "text/plain" string in the headers with "text/HTML" and then enclose all the message body in: htmlpre /pre/html and that's all... (ii) are you referring to your *own* messages when telling that they come back in HTML? Maybe you mean, that it's the _replies_ that you get in HTML? Then it's pretty likely to happen: there are usually some LookOut users about everywhere;-) Thanks, Alexander. I checked out my subscription specs at the site, and found that I was under "Convert to HTML". I did not set it up myself, but... Can' t bring up list of favorite addresses
The button to bring up Favorite addresses is next to the create new message button. Yes, it's there all right. But pressing on this button doesn't bring up the list of favorite addresses in my installation of TB (Xmas edition). I have recently upgraded to Win 98. I can't see why this could have affected TB's behavior. Everything else seems to be working OK. Your help would be appreciated. -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --
