Navigation, and display size are the issues. When Message List is displayed it takes up about 1/3 of the screen starting from the top, the way I have it. When I turn it off I have more area to read (less scrolling adjustments) to read the actual message bodies. Message List is good for jumping to a post that is not 'next' or whatever, you know, just a post from some dozen or so posts back in the list that I wish to quickly refer to and refresh my memory regarding some point. So I toggle on ML and have a quick look at the message, then turn ML off again and resume reading the messages that I have not yet read (usually using the space-bar to proceed). rj currently I use the View menu to toggle View Message List on and off, rj on and off. I leave in "on" all the time; I don't understand why you need to turn it off. Please explain, so I can follow your thoughts. I have only a 17 inch monitor with 15.9 viewable area. Not a lot in my opinion. I like to grab as much as possible viewspace (all if possible) for the message body. Thus I'd like to have a 'Message List' icon. -- Best regards, rellieb-jean -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
'View Message List' icon ?
Dear Bat folk when I have folders open I am forever toggling 'View Message List' on and off. I can't believe there is no icon for this function ( and not even a keyboard shortcut AFAIK). Is there really such an oversight/missing facility. I mean, there is even an icon for 'Copy', but everyone knows Windows already has that with Control-C. Well OK, that may be just me, but really I would have thought there would be more configuration potential re the icons available or displayed. currently I use the View menu to toggle View Message List on and off, on and off. -- Best regards, Stephen -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

If the latter, I've been using a local search program for years, called DT Search Thanks for the tip. I dl'ed this 'DT Search' you mentioned. http://www.dtsearch.com It is fairly powerful I feel, and the 30 day shareware looks fine; - the sort of app I could truly make use of re archiving facility. Pity cost is US$199 though. I will have to dream on for a while. The trial version doesn't seem to have a thesaurus though, and I couldn't find it to trial as well.
Re: Digest (02/14/2000 07:56) Special Issue (#2000-387)
Hello list, Oh come off it, Paula. I respond in the tone given, nothing more. Humm a bit of self-deception going on there I would say. Don't like it, tough. Yes, very philosophical. That's what Hitler said to the Jews wasn't it? :-/ Note that the person who originated the "highlighting the newest message" said nothing further. I'll also point out to her majesty the queen of TBUDL that my response to the original poster was not nasty nor contained namecalling. Further my second response in the thread was in kind to the tone set by the user in question. And what about your third? Have you reread that by any chance? You did start to get unnecessarily jingoistic IMO. Some people just wants or has a different navigational approach or orientation in a mailing client, and suddenly they become 'little pricks'. Humm So what does that make you? A big prick? . Hey, only kidding. Just responsing in kind to the tone you set. Please don't flame me. I am bring joy to this mailing list.

TIA: Subject field empty notify - plus MicroSpell hot key problem.
Has anybody been able to get MicroSpell http://www.microspell.com to work with Bat!? I like Batty (e.g., the searching facility) and are looking forward to Xanadu (ie. version 2). Another app I enjoy is the visuality of MicroSpell, and it's HotKey Spell checking did readily work in conjunction with Agent, but I cannot for life of me get it to work with Batty. Any ideas? Also is there any way to stop Batty from sending posts without something in the subject field? -- Best regards, rellieb-jean -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --

What about replacing *this* with a link to this info? This comes on every single message that's posted to the list, and although it's nice to have the info handy when it's needed, often when it's needed the obvious in-your-face solution doesn't get noticed... That sort of overhead is one reason I read this list on digest. I just wait till about 4 digests have arrived, and then select them and export to a text file on desktop to open in NoteTabPro and scroll thru. Deathwish: rearranging folders deletes files.
I've been trialing Bat on Win98 for a couple weeks now. Last night I decided to rearrange some folders in main account. They had between 5 and 100 messages in each. Upon moving them I noticed the strange fact that they no longer had any messages in them - that is, all messages had mysteriously disappeared during the move. Of course I checked the 'View' (All Messages) and had a look in Windows Explorer at the relevant folders, and even in the BatTrash, but no, they were gone alright. Does anyone know what causes this and what can be done to prevent it? It doesn't have to happen because I have moved folders before this without any problems in Bat. -- Best regards, rellieb-jean -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --
What does Address Auto View do?
What does Address Auto View do? If I click it, a new little window pops up, and I see some addresses re current post I have selected, but as soon as I click behind it, it disappears again, never to be seen again, unless I again invoke it via the menu; by toggling if off then on again. So apparently it is 'on', but where it is? -- Best regards, rellieb-jean -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --
Quoted text in Bat! too 'bold' for my liking. Can I turn it off.
I am trialling Bat! The quoted text looks bold. Is there any way I can turn that bold off. It is too 'in-your-face' and draws attention away from the actual reply. -- Best regards, rellieb-jean mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --
