Hi Marc,

On 06 September 2000 at 01:27:08 GMT -0400 (which was 06:27 where I
live) Marc Weinmann wrote and made these points on the subject
of "Any way to make global column sizes?":

MW Okay, I went in and did all that. Matched the settings in the
MW folder of the account name.. if that makes sense.. I have a
MW "141.com" account. And the folders matched *that* folder.

MW I tried to change the folder columns (moved size) in the default
MW account. Worked, except the folders didn't follow suit. Moreover, when
MW I clicked back to the default account folder, *that* had reverted to
MW its previous column order.

MW The column sizes also don't seem to stick.

MW bug?

Not really. Accounts don't have default column sizes.

MW Is the main account folder the default account folder? Or am I
MW missing something, or am I totally confused now?

You are :-). *Any* folder that follows the default folder settings
*is* the default folder from the POV of setting column sizes. Once you
understand that, it all works perfectly.

MW AAAHH!!!

MW bug?

Only in understanding :-). I hope that clears things up.

Now i see.. default as in the PROGRAM default, not a default folder.
Damn. I was hoping I could set all (or selected) folders to the same
settings by using a folder as a template, per se.

Depends on if what I said above is correct.. hahaha

Hello Marc,

On Tuesday, September 05, 2000 at 13:26:16 GMT -0400 (which was 10:26 AM
where I live) witnesses say Marc Weinmann typed:

 tbuDL,

Is there any way to set the columns so they are the same locations
   and sizes globally?

By Globally, do you mean across accounts? No.

If you mean across folders within a single account, yes. Go into
each folder's properties dialogue and make sure "Use account column
settings" is checked. Unfortunately, you must select this option on
every folder that you want to have the same settings.

Now what would be really neat is if you could create arbitrary column
and sorting profiles. Then you could apply a profile to a given
folder, and switch between profiles on the fly. I imagine this would
be difficult to implement in a usable fashion, so I won't pursue it
 any further...
