If you can't trust the experts, who can you trust? :-) If this is an appropriate place to ask, then I'd like TB to have some means of copying-then-editing accounts. Of course one can go into a template and do Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, then move to another account and replace the existing one, but it's a fiddle and extra work, even if you use a clipboard enhancer. I also see that when you set up a new account manually, the default is to delete messages on the server. I'd have thought that leaving them was better as a default, especially for TB newbies and new accounts not used before. -- Thanks, Robert Bull mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.95.6 on Windows 98 4.10 Build A Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Most ISPs I know still limit their users to a 5 or 10 MB mailbox, so storing your mail on the server is a sure way to get it full. You can insert wishes in the wish list, by logging in to: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/main_page.php Choose 'The Bat! wishes' and add a new item. First check whether someone has made the same wish, then you can support that wish. Wishes that are supported by more users are more likely to be granted than wishes by one. And the system isn't smart enough to understand that wishes might be the same. And add just one wish per entry. Makes everything easier, both for other users who want to add support and for the developers. -- Groetjes, Roelof I can resist everything except temptation. http://www.voormijalleen.nl/ The Bat! 3.96.8 (BETA) Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 1 pop3 account, server on LAN OTFE enabled P4 3GHz 2 GB RAM pgpBYKixXbHJW.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I (think I) did that, but copying those files meant I ended up, after re-starting TB, with the new account having the *same name* as the old one it was copied from. You're right. Apparently something changed in TB's behaviour as I did this before and it used to work. Was quite a while ago though. Maybe even with v1 or v2 and TB has been changed since then. I followed my own instructions and got the same result as you did, didn't get any errors though, nor suffered any data loss (as far as I can see) But then after noticing it went wrong I closed TB again and deleted the account directory for the new account.
