Thanks, Adrian.  I now see what happened:  the menu got displaced from where it 
usually is, for some reason, and was above the folders  on the left-hand side 
of the window, rather than above the tool bar.   So, I didn't think to click on 
"Message."

Thanks for that Adrian, I never knew that. I always dragged the sent message
back to the outbox where I then could edit it by double-clicking on it.

It's not right click on the message to do this. Select the message and then use 
"edit as new" from the very first menu on the left "Message"

Edit as new

Unless I am dreaming, I seem to recall an option that one could access a sent 
message and edit it as if it were a new message.   I thought that one could 
access that function by right-clicking on the message in the sent folder.  
However, that no longer appears to be an option. 
 
Was this option removed by a later version of the The Bat!?
