Line Breaks in Emails

2004-11-14 Thread Jeff Gaines
Hello Group

I have just sent an email to a company with my mailing address so they
can send me some goods. I tried to single space the address but every
time I hit 'enter' and start typing the text all flows back into one
line, it's just happened here - I hit 'return' after I typed 'goods.'
and as soon as I started typing again it all flowed back into one
paragraph.

Is there a way round this annoying behaviour please?

Yes. You need to toggle off auto-format by hitting Shift+Ctrl+F,
toggling the little status bar button (second one from the far left) or
via the 'Utilities' menu.

You don't really have to use auto-format if it often get's in your way.
I don't. I just use Alt-L as needed to reflow text as I type. Alt-L
works on the paragraph that the caret is in without having to actually
select the text. So while typing, I just hit Alt-L when needed (usually
after inserting text somewhere in already wrapped parts).

If you don't like doing this, then you can toggle auto-format on and off
as needed.

OPTIONS - Preferences - Viewer/Editor - Editor Preferences

Play with the tick boxes - I think it's the auto-format one you want
unticked

Disable the auto-formatting.

Global prefs: select Options | Preferences and uncheck the auto-format
checkbox that is found in Viewer/Editor | Editor Preferences

For each message while writing it: press ctrl + shift + f to en-/disable it

 or

Right-click click the small icon bar right of the cursor position indicator
in the message editor's bottom status bar - a context menu appears where
you can adjust the setting.
