You've got several options:

1 Make all these filters inactive and manual.
Before re-filtering select the right filter and make it active
  Re-filter with manual only
Reset the used filter to inactive.
2 It's an easy action you want to perform.
Set the folder to 'no threading' and sort on creation date
Select all messages older then 30 days
  Move them with Ctrl-V
3 Give each of your filters it's own shortcut ('Options' tab)

Pick your choice, this all TB can do for you. (And that I can think
of, but then I should be in bed after working all night.)

Is a plugin API planned? A simple embedded scripting language?
I'd be all over many of my problems if I could write a script
or plugin to address them.

There is the global Deletion action to allow you to move purged
messages to an alternate folder of your choice. This is also
available on a per-folder basis. Much better!

There is a plugin API. Any plug-in developers are encouraged to join

Yes.

1) Upgrade to v2.
2) Set the folder property.

Yes, that is very cool, but I just lost thousands of messages with :

-

Folder Properties :

  General Tab :

[x] Keep the message in base for (20) days.

  Deletion Tab :

Normal Deletion :

  [x] Move messages to trash

Alternative Deletion :

[x] Move messages to specified folder (tbudl\old)

[x] Use alternative deletion for purging this folder

-

Can I get my messages back?

I used Folder Maintenance Center with :

  [x] Purge old/exceeding messages

My messages are gone, not in Trash and not in the subfolder 'old'.

I can only commend the habit of taking a backup before embarking on
a newfangled 'purge' adventure. Other than that, I can only guess
that your messages have bit the big one. :-(

If you haven't compressed the original folder, they should still be in
it, albeit invisible. Try Folder / Browse Deleted Messages to see
them.

It looks like the new feature works only if the messages are
automatically purged. Can this be confirmed, and if so, is that a bug
or as desired?

Move messages older than 30 days

2003-11-14 Thread tb

I know you can do this, but my situation is problematic. I have 4 mailing
lists, I want to filter them manually from time to time so that mail older
than 30 days is moved to a subfolder called 'old'.

I tried this and forgot that every filter I created for each subfolder
actually runs on every subfolder, making me wonder what the 'Source Folder'
is for. It's not documented of course.

But anyway, the result is the messages older than 30 days go into the 'old'
folder of the first filter.

How do I create a filter, or one per mailing list which will move the
messages into a subfolder called old if they are older than 30 days without
conflicting with each other. Is this even possible short of coming up with
manual execution shortcut keys for each one?
