Hi Curtis, Yes, I have the MacBook, 1GB memory, 100GB drive. It should perform fine. I have seen people suggest on some forums that Parallels is slow. I suspect that may be what I am running into and don't realize what is displeasing me, I think it's a bit clunky and clumsy. Boot Camp does a great job. It's just the unfortunate business of rebooting. However, to give the Mac credit, it doesn't take all the shenanigans coming up and shutting down that we are familiar with with Windows. This is my first Mac. I think they've convinced me. As long as I could move that mail, too much time and energy expended there on genealogy research and associated mailing lists, I knew I would be happy. Once that was accomplished most everything else was bound to fall into place. I will be leaving some programming I enjoy, and a lot of it has been freeware. But with the reboot, I am not excluded from continuing to work with the programs while using the Apple to discover what's out there. I gave Windows almost half of the 100GB. As I move more and more toward Apple, I can downsize the Windows partition and increase the Mac side. I think the intel Macs are still evolving and I hope I didn't buy too early. I usually don't replace computers until I have wrung about three years of hard duty out of them. Some of the things I am doing, I suspect, will be built in before those three years go by. I think that Boot Camp might be destined for the next Mac OS. The current issue of MacWorld has BootCamp mentioned on cover, but I haven't yet taken a lot at the article. You might want to stop by a newstand and take a look. -- Elaine Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I gave it out for repairs and mentioned it to one of my colleagues. I also told him of my curiosity about Macs. He offered to lend me his Macmini to play with. I have it here now with my PC peripherals attached to it. It's working very nicely. I'm quite impressed with it and MacOS. I've decided to use a Mac at work. The PC at home, I use a lot more heavily and for more things. It will take me a while to decide whether or not a Mac could take over the duties because of the issue of applications support. I don't mind changing applications, but they just need to be there with the features I am accustomed to having. I'm looking at the business of running XP on a mactel machines. However, I was hoping not to have to use bootcamp. The virtual machine seems far more attractive since it would prevent my having to exit MacOS on the odd occasion I may need to run Windows. Your problems with Parellels intrigues me. I was actually looking in that direction. Are you running one of the new Intel based Macs? How much RAM are you using? > Thank you all very much also for the help here and on the > forwarding/filtering of individual messages-formatted digests. I don't use it at work at all, hence my willingness to use a Mac at work. TB! is the only app that I would wish to run at work that has features that I couldn't get from a native Mac equivalent or substitute. -- -= Curtis =- Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

TB! is working well with the MacBook, Boot Camp and Windows. For those interested, I have not had as much luck with Parallels, but I do plan to keep working with that programming. Thank you all very much also for the help here and on the forwarding/filtering of individual messages-formatted digests. Now install TB, run it, create a new account, point TB to your restored mail directory and give your new accounts the same names as your old ones and they'll be recognised. (When installing everything anew on my computer I didn't need to name the actual accounts, TB recognised it after I told it the name of my mail directory, but I don't know whether that goes for all accounts or whether it only goes for OTFE) Another option would be to create a backup in TB, install TB on your macbook and restore from backup. -- Groetjes, Roelof If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! Moving the mail addendum
The PC and MacBook will both access an external hard drive for the transfer. *** I have a new MacBook. I have installed Windows XP on the Mac which is Intel ready. Windows is now working there. I want to move my entire Bat mail system and store of mail to the laptop. Could someone give me the steps that might accomplish this as painlessly as possible? I am using a registered version 3.80.06 and my last backup is 1.40GB. I haven't installed TB! on the Mac's Windows partition pending information on what all I should be moving to the Mac. Thanks in advance for your help. -- Elaine Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
