account filters and you should leave them alone, the file in the mail
 directory stores the common filters.

Thanks for all those details on the other two approaches -
I've color coded that message and parked it - just in case.

Deleting both the ACCOUNT.SRB and ACCOUNT.SRX from the Mail
folder appears to have solved the problem. Thanks again!

I'm still getting a pair of errors, that were part of more
errors, that I've been getting at startup in my
thebat_Exceiption.log since the power outage.

I'll start a separate thread on those messages.

Hallo Bill,

You wouldn't happen to have a real backup would you? I don't mean one
created by TB (as those don't allow only restoring the sorting offic),
but a backup created with the explorer or something like winrar that
allows for retrieving individual files.
If so, copy and paste your new filters to a text editor (one at a
time) if your mutilated sorting office still allows that.
Close TB.
Restore the file account.srb (account.erb when you're using otfe) from your
backup to your mail directory
Run TB
Copy and paste your new filters from your text editor to your sorting
office
Close TB
Start TB

In case you haven't got any backup,

In case you haven't got a file based backup, but you do have an
internal TB backup you could try this to restore your old filters.
Cut your internet connection
Close TB
Delete the account.srb file from your mail directory (account.erb when using
otfe)
Make a copy of your mail directory with the explorer
Start TB
Restore your TB backup
Close TB
Copy the backup of your mail directory on top of your restored mail directory
Start TB
Reconnect your internet connection

The cutting of your internet connection is to prevent the loss of
messages received while your busy with this procedure

Power Outage Destroyed Operation of Common Filters

2008-07-01 Thread Bill McCarthy
Hello TB User Discussion List,

Sunday, I added several new sorting office incoming filters to my
usual account. I failed to shut down TB after doing this and just
left my computer in Stand By mode over night.

We had a power outage Monday while my computer was on (it lasted
longer than the battery). When I restarted, every seemed fine until I
tried a Read messages filter from the Common Filters account.
Ctrl-Shift-X, which normally deletes a message both locally and on the
server, didn't work.

When I checked my sorting office, I noticed that the new (added
Sunday) incoming filters filters were missing! I then checked the
Common Filters - there were my new filters from my account. I moved
them, one at a time, from the Common Filters to my account. I had to
close and open TB each time or I received an unrecoverable error
message and had to shut down TB with Task Manager.

Now my Common Filters have this odd structure. I've rebooted WinXP to
no avail.

Incoming mail
Outgoing mail
Moving In Hooks
Selective Download
Read messages
Replied messages
Outgoing mail
Read messages
Replied messages
Selective Download

Note that all the high level filters (except Incoming mail) are
repeated in Incoming mail along with Moving In Hooks and there are
not in there normal sorted order.

I can add, say, a Read messages filter to Common Filters - but it
doesn't work.

How can I fix my Common Filters so they work again?

Thanks for listening.
