I'm confused. Are you saying that you start each memo with ! to save
space - as opposed to just starting the memo? Wouldn't any memo have a
regular character in it, so that you could easily see what messages have
a memo or not if the column was one character width.
Am I missing something? Surely you're not talking about using ! just
to save space over M for instance???
