Hello Gerard,

E Too bad they are no longer accepting new accounts, otherwise
E MyRealBox would be a nice free e-mail service with POP3 support.

One POP3 provider which I really have respect for is
http://www.hotpop.com If you get an account they say they'll
send you ads but never sent me an ad when I was with them
and they also say their tagline your mail but they never
did. They offer a generous 10 mB to get started for free and
if I need a free account I would fall back on Hotpop :)

MHO :)

E After clicking on Sign Up Now! I get:

E Thank you for your interest in an account on MyRealbox.com.
E Regretfully, we are not accepting applications for new accounts at
E this time.

I have a MyRealbox account but didn't like it... I really do
not know why... Infact I still have one but don't use it...
They probably cancelled it by now... :(

G Hi Eddy,
GSorry, I did not know that. I guess it has become to popular.
GIt is actually a test site for email software so they might not be
Ginterested in continued growth.

All these email services when you think about it offer you
two things for the hype... their name and size caps...
Hotpop offers 10 MB and they have a bunch of different names
to choose from... I personally like Phreaker.net and have an
account :)

Check it out if you're looking for a stable POP3 provider ;)

Not here. Starting about 2 months ago my wife's, daughter's and my
systems started showing no activity of Yahoo lists through our MyRealbox
accounts. Unsubscribing and resubscribing didn't work. Yahoo reported that
these accounts were deactivated because of too many bounces from our
e-mail addresses at MyRealbox. At this point the fun began ...

Had to change the primary e-mail addresses for the Yahoo accounts to one
that does not have a bounce history with Yahoo. Then for hundreds of
groups the moderators had to approve the reinstatement of my wife,
daughter and myself (including poor Allie_M, the moderator of Tbot) whom
I took my frustration out on for Tbot and basically let him know I wish
they located Tbot on another list server, and I left it to my poor wife to
deal with her 50+ mailing lists as I had little or no intention of getting
on my knees, with some of crafting list moderators, and explaining the
problem and begging for reinstatement.

Anyway ... this is not the first time within the last year that I have had
problems with Yahoo and MyRealbox. Matter of fact, Fastmail just started
bouncing the Langalist, of which I am a subscriber, as spam.

I guess it only gets better this stop the spam campaign.

O No reply to my mail either.

31 hours, 23 minutes and 13 seconds to be exact! He's got a 'day

GS Well I didn't really give up on Yahoo. I installed YahooPops which
GS reminded me to read Yahoo's TOS, Terms of Service agreement. You can
GS review the TOS at http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/.

GS I you look at #16 in the TOS it states the following:

GS You agree not to access the Service by any means other than through the
GS interface that is provided by Yahoo for use in accessing the Service.

GS Based upon the above statement in the TOS I decided not to use
GS YahooPops. What I was really looking for was a free Pop3 email account
GS that I could use with mail lists. I use to use my Yahoo account for
GS this, but changed after Yahoo started to charge for the Pop3 access.

Dear Listers,

A copy of all my regular mail (for which I use The Bat)
goes automatically on to my hotmail account. When I
travel - with no laptop - I can always stay in touch,
using whatever web connection comes to hand.

If you give up on Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. is there some
other way of getting one's email?

TIA,
Maurice

You can still download yahoo.co.uk addresses from the yahoo pop server
via TB! - the yahoo.co.uk ones for some reason have not been
restricted like the yahoo.com ones were. To access via pop mail the
yahoo.com addresses you do need a web to pop intermediate program.
