AM I used Forte' Agent prior to using TB! myself.
I think it's the same breed of people.
They like standards, low resources, stable, tweakablity.

DS I still use Agent for usenet. I've always used programs that
DS specialize in a certain field.
I try to use as few programs as possible to get the job done.
Unfortunately that often means a specialized program for each job

DS I couldn't imagine using a mail program to use as a mail reader.
I can't imagine why there are no combined news/mail programs that are
equally good at both tasks.
After all there is very little difference between e-mail and posting.
The protocol and server are different and that's about it.
Most other things are useable in both worlds.
Filters, macros, signatures, spam blockers, virus blockers, general
program layout, spell-checker, text editor, threading, etc
The news plug-in for TB! is the 'proof' for that statement.
This tiny program just converts e-mail into a post.
Ok, some things are missing but I miss them equally much in the e-mail
part or TB!

It even could increase TB! user base. There are many e-mail programs
to choose from.
But very few news readers. And a major part of them are very focused
on binaries; meaning almost no 'normal' functionality.

DS I think if you
DS give TB! a chance you'll be really happy with it.
I'm beginning to really like it.
And I think you know what that means from the mouth of a
Agent-type-of-person... :P

Hi everyone,

I'm using TB! for a couple of weeks, and I greatly enjoy it. Almost every
other day there is something new to discover.
Now I found this list. This seems to be another good discovery... :o)

On Sunday, April 15, 2001 at 22:45 (my local time), Anne-Sophie Hombert wrote:

I really appreciate that.

ASH Don't be afraid ;-) I do not really like HTML in e-mail messages(in fact not at
all), but unfortunately more
ASH and more newsletters come into that format only.

Good thing, for me it's only those newsletters I don't really need anyway, that
come HTML formatted only. The ones I do need or want are plain text anyway,
or at least they let me choose.

ASH Also I read the FAQ and browsed the newsgroup archive

I'll have to do this some more. So no questions yet. :)

Cheers
Peter

Hello Curt,

I am glad that TB developers have been charged with saving me. Have
you ever heard of choice? Preference of 'do you want to get or not'.

But at least I got all the replies I thought would happen G. I
always find it amazing how people get 'up' for this subject.

Re[3]: Newbie now on list...

2000-01-16 Thread Tom Plunket

 [ splitting digests ]

OS I'm not saying I don't like the idea, but one arrogant question: Why
OS do you subscribe in digest mode if you want the separate messages?

As it relates to The Bat!, there is no convenient way (that I've found
in 24 hours :) to browse the messages in a digest.

The primary reason I subscribe to "big" lists as digests is so I don't
get messages dropping into my mailbox all during the day; they come in
a flood when it's convenient to delete threads that are uninteresting
or whatever... I'm somewhat neurotic, and I'm online 24/7, and I just
HAVE to hit the little flying bat when I have new messages. So, I go,
see an uninteresting message, and delete it... With digests, they
pile up so the threads stick together, etc...

-tom!
