something other than their first name, e.g. Henry is known as Skipper,
but I do not want Skipper to be his first name in the address book.

what about this?

- Edit Address Book entry of recipient

- [x] Automatically add secondary addresses to the BCC field

Adding additional addresses automatically (was: Re: Reply not finding Reply Template (solved, I think))

This was one reason I made use of the memo field to store secondary email
addresses. Miguel hates this because it relies heavily on regular
expressions, but if you have a bit of patience you might like to try it.

Firstly include the line:

%QInclude(Add_CC)%-

in your New Message, Reply and Forward templates for your accounts.

Then in your address book entry include one email address in the usual
place and include the second email address in the memo field (on the
Other tab) in this form on a line by itself:

CCper...@otherdomain.com/CC

It doesn't have to be the only information in the memo tab, just by itself
on one line.

Then you need to set up the following quick templates. There are 4 of them,
and you need them all. They call one another in a chain and the effect is to
look for secondary addresses like the one above and automatically add them
in the CC field. If you were to put the address between BCC tags like this:
BCCper...@otherdomain.com/BCC
the address would be added to the BCC field.

If there are multiple recipients in the TO or CC fields, the macros will do
this for each person.

Copy and paste the contents between the marked Start and End lines. Please
make sure that long lines do not get wrapped in the Quick Template editor.

The first macro is called Add_CC (without the quotes of course).

Yes, this works for the problem that I stated originally, but creates
a new problem. In the address book, if I hit the sheet of paper with
the feather quill (Create a new message), the new message window
opens up, but only with the address on the first line. It did not make
any difference when I retained the comma at the end of the name on the
first line. So the best method is to create a second entry.

Re: Reply not finding Reply Template (solved, I think)

2009-03-12 Thread MAU
Hello Leonard,

In the address book, if I hit the sheet of paper with the feather
quill (Create a new message), the new message window opens up, but
only with the address on the first line.

OK, if you have selected a name in your AB, don't click the 'sheet of
paper' icon. Instead, right click on the Name and from pop-up menu
select 'New message to' and you will see all (can be more than 2)
addresses for that Name and you can pick the one you wish.

Reply not finding Reply Template (solved, I think)

2009-03-11 Thread Leonard Berkowitz
I have previously posted notes asking for help with replies not
finding the existing Reply Template. I received many responses with
suggestions, but none of them made any difference. Of course, I am
grateful for these numerous attempts to help me.

I think the problem is that the incoming e-mail address has to match
exactly the e-mail address in the address book entry. Now that may
seem obvious, and it should have been to me. However, in several
instances, I have placed two addresses, separated by a comma in the
address book entry. Of course, the incoming e-mail could not be coming
from both of those addresses, so the address book template was
ignored. I have solved this problem, I believe, by creating a second
address book entry, with only the second e-mail address and now keep
only one address in each entry.

Again my thanks to everyone who tried to help me during the past year.

Yep.

LB However, in several instances, I have placed two addresses,
LB separated by a comma in the address book entry.

That can be solved in two ways. Either by creating an entry for every
