MS That might be true ;-) but neither function works here, because as
MS soon as I press CTRL-SHIFT-+ (which on my german keyboard means
MS CTRL-*, as * is SHIFT-+ ) the thread gets expanded from the
MS current point on, and is not toggled from the beginning.

you should use the * from the numeric keypad, then it will work

Searching keyboard shortcuts and functions (e.g. Collapse current thread)

2005-05-25 Thread Martin Schuster
Hello tbudl,

I know everybody's off testing the bugs in the new version, but I'm
currently searching myself to death for a simple keyboard shortcut:

Collapse Thread (i.e. completely collapse the current thread)

An old shortcut list I have says it's ctrl-* but that does not work
on my german keyboard (most probably because the * is shift+PLUS,
which is the shortcut for open thread...

And I can't find the item Collapse Thread in the customiser. Anybody
knows where it hides?

!!! Idea !!!
How would it be to have a quick search field in customiser so
I can search for Shortcuts or functions/items by namecl? I never know if I need
to search a certain function under MsgCtl or meEdit because I
don't know what MsgCtl is...

Yeah, it'd be nice to be able to do that. It took me a while the first
time around setting up CTRL-J as a junkmail hotkey because I didn't
realize it lived in two places.

H... On my laptop I have to use CTRL-Fn-0 (0 is where the asterisk
is) to get expansion and collapse. Not familiar with the German
keyboards though.

Funnily enough this works here, too, although I have to use P
(x-sign on numeric key) that produces a *

But: is it the same at your computer that CTRL-* collapses/expands
*all* threads, not just the one that is currently active?

(BTW: thanks a lot for bothering with my unimportant problem)

Hello Martin,

Sorry, I can't read. Shortcut list says clearly:

Ctrl+* = open all the branches of all threads in a folder

Now if that ain't clear enough...my fault.

It does. Sometimes I do CTRL-* to expand, CTRL-A to select all
messages, then CTRL-M to mark them all as read.

M (BTW: thanks a lot for bothering with my unimportant problem)

No problem is unimportant. You just have to find someone who cares!
LOL!
