Viewing headers...

2004-08-11 Thread Thorvald Neumann
Hæ!

When I hit Ctrl + Shift + K, this shows the headers of an email.

Some messages appear as the always did:

headers then directly message text

Now in some folders, I just get a header view and two tabs appear
beneath the message window: Text and Headers.

Anybody knowing what's the reason behind it?

Oh, and Tabs at the bottom are not as good as having tabs at the
top... ;)

The only way for me to duplicate this somewhat is when I set my view
for HTML/text and/or HTML-only messages for HTML only.
But that gives me two tabs HTML and Headers, so that is a bit
different from what you're experiencing.

TN Anybody knowing what's the reason behind it?

You mentioned 'some folders', might they contain messages from the
same (group of) contacts(s)? If so might they have a different
lay-out? I'm thinking of the text being an attachment or something
like that.

As I want to ignore those tabs most of the time, I prefer them at the
bottom. On top they would be too prominent. YMMV

BTW, I am using the plain text viewer.

Hmmmh, it seems it happens only to messages encoded in UTF-8.

When I use View Headers on HTML-emails; the headers appear in the
text view and I got the usual two tabs Text and HTML.

Confirmed here. I just had some UTF-8 message with Arabic quotations on the
translation mailing list, and switched headers on right now. Two tabs at
the bottom, Text and Headers.

Re: Messages not opening + viewing headers

Hi, Jonathan

Try opening that same message again, and going to View - Message List
(make sure the tick goes away). This should display only the message you
want.

 Jonathan Angliss

That did the trick! Now the messages are opening individually again... THANK
YOU!

While I'm posting anyway, is there a way to have TB show the headers when
the message opens? I found the option to click on Special and then View
Source separately, but can I configure it to show headers automatically?

Thanks again, Jonathan. Thanks to you, too, Marck.

Best wishes,

Susan

Depends which headers you really want to see. If it is only during the
viewing of the message, you can go to (in the main TheBat window) View
- - RFC822 headers, this will give the full headers of the emails. If
there is only a certain header you want, like the mailer, (in the main
TheBat window again) View - Message Header and tick the ones you want
to show.
