ZA can cause problems for TB by disabling Internet access for TB. Most people experiencing ZA vs TB problems were using NTFS partitions, so it might be related. ZA has problems with a corrupting config file, at least all versions I used had this problem. It's prone to forget to save modifications to the config. Especially when it's running long sessions (continuously running pc's). The problems I had were easily solved by deleting the config and start ZA again and after a day or two all necessary programs had been entered again. -- Groetjes, Roelof Current version is 1.62r | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Interesting. I'm using ZA and having problems too, but I've learned to live with it. After you delete the config and all the necessary programs had been entered, did TB work fine with ZA? At 8:10 AM on 8/23/2003, danger h typed ... d Excuse me but what problems does ZA have with The Bat? I am using ZA d here. So am I, but I've occasionally seen a problem. TB will try to check mail and ZA will begin using 99.9% of system resources. Occasionally the ZA process can be killed, but often the computer must be powered off. The current version of ZA seems to have resolved the problem and support at Zone Labs is generally willing to work with users to track down the problem. -- Bill Blinn Technology Editor ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) - 8/23/2003 at 8:32 AM Technology Editor, Newsradio 610 WTVN, Columbus, Ohio Direct: 614-785-9359 614-324-7818 Cell: 614-893-4151 Fax: 877-870-4892 Random thought: It works better if you plug it in -- unless it's the cat. ZA is particularly notorious for cause connectivity problems with TB!. The reports are many and I had my own personal experience with it and ended up uninstalling it. The thing is that not everyone experiences these problems. Additionally, the problems don't always start immediately after installing ZA or TB! and it's this particular point that made my experience so miserable. They were working fine together and then the problems started. It therefore took me a long time to pin down the cause. I just never suspected ZA. Be that as it may, like myself, those who reported these problems also cured their problems by switching to another firewall. You may just be one of the fortunates who has been doing ok with it. The problems seem to be more common with NT based systems and for those who keep their machines running for extended periods between reboots. I think I'd still be using ZA if I rebooted my machine daily since my problems with it were always cured with a reboot and the problems would restart after a few days without rebooting. - -- -= allie_M =- | List Moderator PGPKeys: http://www.ac-martin.com/pgpkeys.html _ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: PGP SDK 3.0.2 iQA/AwUBP0e5n1fJ62ArBxfiEQLcXwCfUEVo+1JH0FanNLZjGfBYLnQrCOEAoMNY TBP5B4NNFB7zbp4VmZtJ/8mu =khVA -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current version is 1.62r | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
