Re: [Test-Announce] Fedora 21 Beta Release Candidate 4 (RC4) Available Now!

2014-10-31 Thread Joerg Lechner
Hi,
because of changes RC3 - RC4. Lastly I wrote in a thread that I can not
install acroreader with Gnome SW tools and not with Yum. What I wanted to say
is not, that I use Acroreader, but that there is a change from RC3 to RC4. Yum
and Gnome SW tools could install in RC3 this ancient program, but in RC4 I
could install this rpm file only in an xterm (terminal), not with Yum or Gnome
SW tools.
Kind Regards

Betreff: [Test-Announce] Fedora 21 Beta Release Candidate 4 (RC4) Available Now!

NOTE: The last compose was RC2.

As per the Fedora 21 schedule [1], Fedora 21 Beta Release Candidate 4
(RC4) is now available for testing. Content information, including
changes, can be found at
https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/6010#comment:19 . Please see the
following pages for download links (including delta ISOs) and testing
instructions. Normally dl.fedoraproject.org should provide the fastest
download, but download-ib01.fedoraproject.org is available as a mirror
(with an approximately 1 hour lag) in case of trouble. To use it, just
replace dl with download-ib01 in the download URL.

Reporting validation results with relval: please update python-mwclient to 0.7

2014-10-31 Thread Adam Williamson
Hi, folks. Sorry for the cross-post, but wanted to try reach everyone
I'd mentioned my little 'relval' tool to.

If you have been using 'relval' to report validation results, or are
thinking of trying it, please make sure you update python-mwclient to
0.7. Josef Skladanka submitted a few results using relval yesterday
which messed up the Desktop page, and kindly fixed up the page and let
me know about the problem (thanks, Josef!)

On investigation I found the problem is that python-mwclient 0.6.5 is
missing the ability to read in the text of a single page section (it
looks like it has it, but it actually doesn't). Any time you submit a
result to a multi-section page with python-mwclient 0.6.5, this will
happen. With python-mwclient 0.7 it works fine.

I'm going to send out a python-wikitcms update which requires
python-mwclient 0.7 ASAP, and get the python-mwclient 0.7 update into
stable for all releases also ASAP, but just in case anyone isn't
updating regularly or anything, I thought I'd send a note. Thanks!

Well. For a start, Beta RC3 was not released, anywhere. Its creation was
aborted quite early and none of the images was uploaded anywhere. So I'm
not sure what you're comparing to.

Even if you somehow got a hold of a Beta RC3 image, the sole difference
between Beta RC3 and Beta RC4 is the inclusion of the same
NetworkManager build that RC1 had (RC3 erroneously left that NM build
out of the compose, which is why it was aborted). There is no other
difference between them.

The only way would have been if someone grabbed a live image or ARM
image directly from koji, but as you mentioned there was only the
NetworkManager different

not sure what you're comparing to.

[Test-Announce] Significant bug in fedup to Fedora 21, do not use it right now

2014-10-31 Thread Adam Williamson
There's a major bug with fedup to Fedora 21 right at the moment,
discovered this morning by Robin Lee (thanks Robin). We should be able
to deal with it some way or another in time for Beta release day, but
for right now it's not a very good idea *at all* to try and upgrade any
system you care about to F21 with fedup. (Of course, it's never a good
idea to upgrade to a pre-release without a recovery plan!)

https://www.happyassassin.net/2014/10/31/psa-dont-fedup-to-fedora-21-right-now/
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1159292

Of course, if you want to help out with solving this, it'll be a great
help. It'd be good to have folks confirm that the bug happens any time
the 'install updated packages' boot takes more than 15 minutes, and
maybe that the scratch builds I've posted in the bug -
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1159292#c18 - solve it (the
final fix may be different, but that bodge should at least illustrate
that the problem is really what we think it is, if it works).
