I ran some spot-checks on the Server functionality (mostly Cockpit,
FreeIPA and database server). Nothing much has changed in
server-specific stuff since RC3, so I think we're good to go there.

Fedora 23 Final RC6 call for testing

2015-10-28 Thread Adam Williamson
Hi folks! We have what should hopefully be the final RC for Fedora 23
available for testing now. It would be really great if folks could help
us run as many of the validation tests as possible ahead of the Go/No-
Go meeting tomorrow. Here are the result pages:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_23_Final_RC6_Installation
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_23_Final_RC6_Base
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_23_Final_RC6_Desktop
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_23_Final_RC6_Server
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_23_Final_RC6_Cloud

we need to run all the tests marked as Alpha, Beta and Final, ideally
for all the 'environments' (columns). Image download links are at the
top of the page, and you can file results by editing the pages manually
or using the 'relval' tool - you need to get that from a side repo,
see https://www.happyassassin.net/wikitcms/ for info on installing it,
then just run 'relval report-results'. If you find something that looks
like a release blocker bug, please submit a bug report, file a 'fail'
result referencing the bug report, and mark the bug as blocking
'FinalBlocker' (or use
https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/propose_bug ) to propose it as
a blocker.

Thanks a lot folks! If you have any questions, please ask in #fedora-qa
on Freenode.

So the Cloud images are missing *because of* the installer test fails -
Cloud images are actually built by running an install, so they don't
show up when the installer's broken.

The bug causing all the installs to fail is
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1276085 .

I don't think so, no, this just sounds like
idiosyncratic behaviour in
your firmware. Is it a UEFI or BIOS install?

I don't think so, no, this just sounds like idiosyncratic behaviour in
your firmware. Is it a UEFI or BIOS install?

Re: liveCD F23 Final RC5 -- is this a problem?

2015-10-28 Thread Joerg Lechner
Hi,
installed now RC6. It's the same. I install F23 Final RC6 Desktop x86_64 from
liveCD on usb media. After installation I leave liveCD via restart, not via
shutdown. In the restart phase bios of my Acer laptop is blocked, it seems
forever. When I leave liveCD via shutdown, the procedure is "normal", as I also
would expect for restart. But there is nothing permanent "written" to bios.
Worthwhile for a bug?
Kind regards

Best regards,
Alexander Kolesnikov

Your English is many orders of magnitude better than my Russian, which
consists only of the word 'nyet'!

Some suggestions concerning your English usage:

1. 'I use Linux about 6 years' ==> 'I have used Linux for about 6 years'

2. 'I would like to help Fedora QA team.' ==> 'I would like to help the
   Fedora QA team.'

3. 'I am already sent request.' ==> 'I have already sent a request.'

4. 'Sorry for my not good English.' ==> Sorry for my bad English.'

Note that what you said is quite understandable, except perhaps for
Australians (joke: New Zealanders pretend Australians are very stupid -
I live in NZ).

Cheers,
Gavin

[Test-Announce] Fedora 23 Final Release Candidate 6 (RC6) Available Now!

2015-10-28 Thread Adam Williamson
On our modified schedule [1], Fedora 23 Final Release Candidate 6 (RC6)
is now available for testing. Please help us complete all the
validation testing!

RC6 resolves a KDE blocker that was thought fixed in RC5, but wasn't.
It also pulls in FE fixes to abrt/libreport and libssh, so please test
those two areas carefully. In general, we should prioritize tests not
run for RC3/RC5, KDE tests, GNOME Software, abrt/libreport, and ssh.

Content information, including changes, can be found at
https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/6266#comment:20 . Please see
the following pages for download links and testing instructions.
Normally dl.fedoraproject.org should provide the fastest download, but
download-
ib01.fedoraproject.org is available as a mirror (with an approximately
1 hour lag) in case of trouble. To use it, just replace "dl" with
"download-ib01" in the download URL.

Yes, anaconda does not do that. I'm not sure it'd really want to. The
whole issue of X vs. console keyboard layouts is a very icky one which
badly needs a better solution at a much lower level (ideally, we need
user-space consoles using the xkb infrastructure for keyboard input,
which was supposed to happen like two years ago but hasn't yet).
vpodzime would probably be the anaconda person to talk to about it.

Keyboard mapping during system installation

2015-10-28 Thread Joachim Backes

Hi F23 testers,

seeing a (small) problem during F23 installation (RC5 included):

After choosing the keyboard type in a X11 based Fedora installation (for
example "german no dead keys"), this keyboard type won't be effective in
the tty's (^alt+F1,^alt+F2,...). The keys are still of US KB type. I
have to load the correspondent KB mapping for getting the right mapping
in the ttys ("loadkeys de" for example, or similar).

I think this is a *task to be done by anaconda* during the installation.

Anybody sees this too?

This issue exists since some Fedora versions :-)

Remark: I didn't test this inside a pure text install.

Kind regards

Joachim Backes

Re: liveCD F23 Final RC5 -- is this a problem?

2015-10-28 Thread Joerg Lechner
Hi,
after plug out of laptop, bios start is normal as always, it seems only to
happen once after installation of f23 to any medium and subsequent leaving
liveCd with restart, when I leave liveCD with shutdown the behaviour is normal.
Kind regards

Does it
