Only if you want to create a baseline in case something happens again.

One command that should know about is "journalctl -f". This gives you a
live stream of log entries as they happen. Very useful for this case.
When that is running, you can see immediately if anything happens when
you plug or unplug the ethernet cable.

I'll also note that this has been in place for quite a while now in F24+, just
now back-porting to F23.

No (if it does, it's a bug). redhat-rpm-config and python2/3-devel should
have the appropriated requires to bring in the proper macros.

The latest NetworkManager upgrade appears to have fixed the WiFi
connection on the T500, which is great :-)

And, it now automatically detects the RJ45 wired Ethernet and responds
properly. Double yay! :-))

I guess the proposed experimenting is now redundant, or is it worth
trying anyway?

I think it's more 'known' than 'intended', to split hairs a little: I
forget the details, but basically desktop icons can't work the way they
currently do with Wayland (and I'm betting no-one cares a lot to fix
them). This is all just IIRC.

Hah, good point. I hadn't noticed. I'll clean it up. In the Days Before
ARM, 'i686', 'x86_64', 'UEFI' made sense. Now we have no i686 any more
and (soon) 64-bit ARM using UEFI, it doesn't...:)

I believe the behavior is currently as intended, it's not a bug, I'm
not sure whether it's intended as a future enhancement or not. I'd
check the desktop list archives as I know there's was a thread around
differences between X11 and Wayland, what was being fixed, what was
different due to wayland functionality etc in the last couple of
months.

No desktop icons with "gnome on wayland" as desktop variant in F24

2016-04-01 Thread Joachim Backes

Hi F24 testers,

I installed F24 workstation and set "gnome on wayland" as login option,
set "Dektop icons" to "on" using gnome-tweak-tool, but still desktop
icons are not shown (same problem as in F23).

Any workaround for this behaviour? Or is this a bug, or a feature?

Kind regards

Thanks, looks good. One suggestion though, some of the tables have columns
named "x86_64" and "UEFI", while other tables have columns named "x86_64 BIOS"
and "x86_64 UEFI". For consistency reasons, I think we should make them look
the same. Using the second approach seems clearer to me.
