holding shift on boot does not reveal grub menu
holding shift key down does not reveal GRUB menu (edit) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1880169 I'm not sure when this regression appeared. It was working with F32 VM's and I think also with some earlier F33 VMs. Anyway, right now it's not working for me with either virt-manager or baremetal (sample size of one each). -- Chris Murphy ___ test mailing list -- test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to test-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/test@lists.fedoraproject.org

Re: Boot Options
I tried to test this on a VM but it does not worked, so I asked a friend who have upgraded his F32 workstation to F33 with dnf, and he reported to me that it worked fine for him, grub menu appears after this procedure. Also, when I reboot with "Boot Options" button in Shell, upon reboot and manually getting into the GRUB menu, and then 'c' to get to a prompt, and then 'set' to see environment variables - menu_show_once=1 is not set. Re: Boot Options
I have a possibly related problem, but I haven't had luck narrowing down where the problem is... shift key is not reliably bringing up the GRUB menu on a reboot; for sure it never does with virt-manager VMs. I'm not sure if it's a GRUB bug or a virt-manager bug or an edk2 bug or what but it's quite aggravating. I'm not sure how Boot Options works, i.e. what exactly is it modifying? Can you try sudo grub2-editenv - set menu_show_once=1 And reboot. Does the GRUB menu appear? If not, then this is likely a grub2 bug. If it does work, then maybe it's a gnome-shell bug, but again I'm not sure how shell sets a one time reveal of the boot menu. -- Chris Murphy ___ test mailing list -- test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to test-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/test@lists.fedoraproject.org

Then this would also need a clarification: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_33_Final_Release_Criteria#Package_and_installer_sources to specifically mention that FTP is not included (because it still *is* supported by anaconda, right?). Perhaps a topic for a separate discussion? I don't have strong feelings here. If you mean dropping FTP support from the Basic and Beta criteria I mentioned in my proposal, but keeping the Final criterion intact (for now), I'd be definitely in favor of that change, especially after hearing that our infra dropped FTP support some time ago. > 3) Specifically cover metalink and mirrorlist sources > It's already covered by the Final criterion mentioned above, I believe. ___ test mailing list -- test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to test-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/test@lists.fedoraproject.org
