Display issues

2017-10-08 Thread Russel Winder
Hi,

I cannot see a pattern as yet, so I can't do anything reproducibly, but
with a Wayland login at times I get a series of waves of display
failures (background showing through windows but with a refresh feel to
it) always going top to bottom sometimes seemingly going slightly left
sometimes slightly right (which may be an artefact of the set of
windows open at the time).

Is anyone else seeing anything at all similar?

Since it's an Alpha, what you should do is file a bug.

Unless you provide something more specific than 'reasonable' and 'not
reasonable' as descriptions of the modes in question, I really can't
say.

Fine, since there is no other way to get a "display" entry in the
"Administration" menu, does that mean if the system makes totally inappropriate
choices on video I should go to another distribution, or is there some secret
way (ie. not available on the admin menu) to get a reasonable display setting?

And while I'm at it, why can the installer use a reasonable video mode but the
OS boot doesn't? Your typical user isn't going to boot in single user, create
an
Xorg.conf file, and edit it to sanity with vi.

This is known.

This isn't particularly surprising, as no-one wants to maintain it any
more.

Display issues running FC14a3 under KVM

2010-08-26 Thread Bill Davidsen
I booted the Live-CD under KVM and after a bit of minor testing did an
install from that, using the "install" off the default user home page.
The system boots and runs, but I get odd display warnings.

At startup I get a warn of using a 1x1 window (and being smart enough to
not do it), then when I install and try to run system-config-display I
get an error in the running of the package.

I put this stuff in http://www.tmr.com/~davidsen/FC14/ if anyone wants
to see it screen shots, since developers are pedaling pretty fast
already, I thought I'd wait for another alpha or beta to file in CZ, and
just note here in case someone finds the info useful.
