The last upgrade I did to my Rawhides (which I guess was 2017-01-17, but there is a difference between me trying an update and anything coming from the Fedora repo :-) Since then the boot sequence works fine but no GDM, instead just a bit on line noise character sequence at the end of the boot sequence on the screen. However the kernel has booted and is working fine, I can SSH in from another machine. So I can believe it is an Xwayland/GDM type thing – can it be GNOME Shell at this stage of the booting sequence? I was previously unable to start X because of this problem, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1410528 but once I implemented the workaround suggested there, X started and ran fine. Ok, I will try to boot the kernel with nomodeset when I get home. From my understanding, the nomodeset disable the video driver, will that affect the performance? Is there any possibilities that it is caused by gnome-shell or other component of GNOME? It is pretty similar to a bug that happen about 1 month ago.
